What work will I perform at Landstar?

We are seeking a Procurement/Administrative Services Specialist that will oversee the administrative process for procurement. This position requires a high degree of autonomy so the right person will need to be self motivated to get the work done.

Experience needed for the role.

  • Prepare proposals, request quotes and negotiate purchase terms and conditions
  • Extensive knowledge of department
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and concerns
  • Inspect and evaluate the quality of purchased items and resolve shortcomings
  • Analyze industry and demand trends and support management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies
  • Maintains confidentiality while accessing critical and proprietary data and systems
  • Provide guidance and coaching on day-to-day issues
  • Maintains strict confidence
  • Prepare various reports as needed
  • Responsible for planning own work to meet deadlines

What you need to bring to Landstar

  • Proven work experience as a Procurement Specialist or similar role
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and with business application software, purchasing and resource planning systems
  • Professional demeanor
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, preferred
  • Minimum Experience: Three+ years of related experience
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with vendors as well as internal and external customers
  • Negotiate pricing on goods with vendors
  • Manage and assist with inventory control including shipping and receipt of goods

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.12 - $18.91 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
