This role is a critical leadership position on the Mechanical Systems and Components (MS&C) Directed Energy Systems (DES) Breakthrough Initiative (BTI) leadership team. Lead a dynamic, fast-paced engineering team as the Program Director and engineering site leader for our Boulder City, NV site located just outside of Las Vegas. Responsible for planning and executing $60M in annual RevCOGS programs this position will lead the development of advanced power and thermal management systems for High-Energy Lasers. Drive innovation for Directed Energy Systems platforms, powering high-energy lasers to defend against escalating UAS threats for the US Department of Defense. As the successful candidate, you'll bring 10+ years of experience in program/project management and engineering leadership, and you'll leverage these skills to manage a direct team of 10 and provide facility oversight for a diverse team of 40 including engineers, technicians, buyers, and lab technicians. You will be the senior leader responsible for technical, financial, and schedule performance of your entire portfolio. You will also interface with multiple levels of functional leadership in Engineering, Integrated Supply Chain, Customer and Product Support, and Finance to build cross-organizational support and serve as an escalation point should program challenges occur. You will be accountable for revenue growth, margin expansion, cost control and time-to-market commitments. You will achieve breakthrough improvements in program performance through adoption of Agile project management methodologies and by exerting performance management and leadership influence through deployment of other cost- effective and proactive program management practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership and career development responsibility for direct or matrixed Program Managers and Project Engineering team.
  • Serve as engineering site leader, and Key Management Personnel (KMP), the primary escalation point for site issues, including IT, security, insider threat awareness and other critical items that impact site execution and compliance.
  • Be the face of the Honeywell and linkage to the broader Honeywell team for the site team (acquired by Honeywell in 2020), customers and suppliers visiting the site.
  • Work effectively across Engineering, Procurement, and Finance disciplines to drive flawless program execution and SRO forecasting.
  • Ability to communicate complex program management and financial issues to all levels, effectively linking program performance with financial results and product line strategies.
  • Overall NPI Portfolio leadership for R&D Investment and Revenue.
  • Ensure overall portfolio financial performance to AOP and STRAP.
  • Set and implement policy for milestone management and lead portfolio adherence to critical milestone loading and accomplishment.
  • Lead the Program Management Review of Record operating system for Rocky Research team.
  • Anticipate program risks and address them before they become critical issues for our customers, markets, or program metrics
  • Drive critical program management policies as a change agent, including:
  • Change control and risk management identification & mitigation
  • Baseline Management and Scope Change Control Operating Systems.
  • Work closely with Offering Directors as part of the leadership team to influence targets for AOP and STRAP based on program performance and pursuit pipeline.
  • Support business, CBTs, and sellers with site-related assumptions and costs.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management or business
  • 10 years of experience in Engineering, Finance or Program Management
  • Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status
  • Must be located in Las Vegas, NV OR Huntsville, AL area or willing to relocate.
