Project Manager

Lafayette College seeks a project manager combining technical aptitude with organizational prowess. The position works with stakeholders across the college and colleagues in Information Technology Services to review, plan, and execute IT projects.

The ideal candidate is a project manager with technical experience or a technical individual looking to move into a project coordination role. Curiosity about emerging trends in IT is important. So the ability to translate technical jargon, whether it’s project management lingo from a vendor, technobabble from an IT expert, or discipline-specific requests from faculty and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Intake: Collaboratively review incoming project requests to determine their fit with the college’s technology standards, identify possible risks, and assess impacts on existing workflows.
  • Project Support: Work with team members to plan, coordinate, and execute information technology projects.
  • Documentation: Maintain project documentation, including project plans, schedules, meeting minutes, and status reports.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Leverage effective communication techniques, whether that’s regular check-in meetings, automated email reminders, or meeting for coffee with project stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build positive relationships with stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and administrators.

Qualifications:

  • Keen interest in technology.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience in a technology-oriented role.
  • Project management experience and proficiency in related tools are helpful but not required.
  • Knowledge of higher education systems, processes, and environments is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
