McKean County Part-Time Ag Summer Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The summer assistant will assist with Agronomic Crop educational activities and occasional on-farm research efforts in Pennsylvania with a focus in McKean County. Activities may include, and are not limited to:

  • Assisting with planning for field days and other educational events, preparing supplies, contacting host locations, marketing, and coordination of local events.
  • Plan and assist in implementation of workgroup meetings, send meetings reminders, print meetings agendas, and transport supplies requested by facilitators to meeting sites.
  • Publish relevant news articles to local newspapers.
  • Secure participating farms for statewide monitoring efforts and share statewide pest monitoring results at local vendors and local news.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of winter meetings and workshops for growers in North Central Pennsylvania.
  • Assist local Agronomy Educator as needed with performing tasks outlined by the Field and Forage Crops Team, Nutrient Management, Forages and Ag Business Sub-teams including providing support for development of statewide educational programs and products.
  • Attend meetings and workshops as required.
  • Complete professional development and required trainings online and in-person as required.

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
