Public Relations Associate

The Public Relations Associate plays an active role in advancing the Agency’s mission through internal and external communications and marketing. In this position, the PR Associate develops strategies and maintains the Agency’s organizational presence on various social media platforms and the Agency’s website.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists the Vice President of Public Relations to develop creative concepts and manage production for DCHFA as a brand, as well as individual programs and initiatives
• Develop social media content, communication and marketing strategies and materials for use and distribution by the Agency
• Works closely with the Vice President of Public Relations to ensure consistent brand identity, awareness, and image of DCHFA is conveyed in all PR and marketing messages internally and externally
• Executes public relations and marketing strategies, activities and plans for various Agency programs, legislative and public policy initiatives, sponsor acquisitions, strategic alliance partner activities, special events and campaigns
• Create and manage DCHFA’s social media marketing and advertising strategies across all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube) and the Agency’s website
• Manage and update content on Agency’s official website, to ensure information is accurate and up-to-date through coordination with website vendor
• Utilize social media analytics to assess trends and activity and provide analysis and recommendations to initiate and grow the Agency’s social media audience
• Monitor the online activity of Agency employees and programs, partner organizations, stakeholders, government officials, and other influencers
• Perform research to find articles, stories, videos, resources, or other content that is relevant to the Agency’s mission
• Create, design, and edit presentations and branded templates for use by Agency staff
• Produce videos for internal and external and /or online distribution
• Draft, edit, proofread Agency reports, brochures, templates, and communications for distribution.
• Assist in coordinating and covering Agency events and/or events that feature DCHFA staff members and/or Board of Directors
• The position manages advertising campaigns across media platforms including social media, online publications, print and broadcast
• Assist in the Agency’s Award Strategy including; drafting and submitting nominations for industry awards
• Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or another related field from an accredited university or equivalent experience is required
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in developing and implementing integrated communications, social and strategic activities, campaigns and special events
• Expertise with social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Hootsuite, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube
• Experienced in utilizing Google Analytics, Facebook Insights,, Hootsuite, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter analytics to access social media trends
• Experience in Adobe Suite (Photoshop/Illustrator), graphic design, and other photo and graphic editing software
• Experience with email campaign software, preferably Constant Contact
• Highly creative with the ability to generate innovative ideas
• Possess production skills including photography, videography and editing
• Ability to pay strong attention to details
• Ability to work directly with politicians and executives, including Executive Director and Board of Directors members
• Excellent written communication skills including promotional writing
• Strong oral communication with the ability to make presentations
