Job Purpose

Join our dynamic team as a Quality Control Technician and play a crucial role in our commitment to excellence. As a Quality Control Technician, you will be responsible for conducting a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards. Your attention to detail and precision will contribute directly to our success in delivering exceptional products to our valued customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow all established safety rules and procedures, demonstrating unwavering integrity in adherence to the company's Code of Conduct.
  • Perform complex testing processes on production batches, measuring various physical and chemical characteristics of the products, such as viscosity, weight, flow, gloss, and color, among others.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable results in all testing procedures.
  • Keep detailed records and charts of all products tested, ensuring comprehensive documentation and traceability.
  • Report test results and observations promptly and legibly on the appropriate QC cards or files.
  • Collaborate with the QC manager, production staff, and development team to evaluate production or field-related issues, proactively identifying potential causes of complaints.
  • Actively engage in 5S activities to promote efficiency and organization in the work area.
  • Contribute to sustaining and improving cleanliness and orderliness through area housekeeping responsibilities.

Level of Autonomy:

As a Quality Control Technician, you will be expected to exercise independent judgment and decision-making in various aspects of your role. Examples of such autonomy include:

Determining when and how to calibrate testing equipment to maintain accuracy.
Evaluating test results and determining whether products meet specified quality standards.
Identifying and escalating potential production or quality issues to relevant stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferably 1-2 years of technical or community college courses with a focus on physical science, or 3 or more years of experience in the paint and coatings manufacturing industry.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong near vision to read labels and examine details up close.
Ability to comprehend and follow safety instructions and guidelines.
Must be able to pass the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Color test with a score of 32 or lower.
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
Strong multitasking and priority management abilities.
Dedication to safety leadership and maintaining a safe working environment.
Comfort working in a heavy manufacturing environment with exposure to chemical agents.
Physical ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
Competence in operating and controlling equipment for performing job duties safely and effectively.
Basic mathematics skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and measurements.
Ability to monitor equipment gauges and displays for proper operation.
