Senior Practice Manager - Data Engineering

Sr Practice Managers are expected to be subject matter experts capable of leading a group of like-minded Rackers in the Data, Analytics and AI/ML practice. This role includes both deliveries in a Professional Services Data Architect or an SME role on customer engagements as well a commitment to ensuring the overall success of the practice as a leader.  


As an experienced Sr Data Practice Manager with an understanding of how to run successful professional services engagements, you will help drive projects that deliver successful outcomes for customers wanting to do Data Modernization and AI/ML work.  Successful candidates will have demonstrated the ability to think strategically about businesses, create technical definitions around customer objectives in complex situations, develop data solution strategies, motivate & mobilize resources, provide technical guidance, and deliver results. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value is a critical component to be successful in this role. We seek team members who are self-motivated, driven, collaborative, passionate about deep cloud adoption and technology in general.    


As a Sr manager, you will have a small team of direct reports that include Data Engineers, Data  Architects, and Lead Data Architects who you will mentor and assist with their development. In addition to managing your direct reports, you will act as a leader within the practice supporting objectives such as overall quality and efficiency of our delivery, supporting sales teams with shaping and reviewing opportunities, supporting operational tasks such as resourcing support or tasks related to hiring and onboarding new Rackers. Strong communication skills, the ability to lead and inspire others, and emotional intelligence are critical to your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a Big Data subject matter expert, leading a team of skilled professionals within the Data, Analytics, and AI/ML practice. 
  • Engage in professional services delivery in a Data Architect or SME role, managing projects that focus on Data Modernization for our clients across  GCP and AWS Cloud platforms. 
  • Strategize around complex customer objectives, develop data solution strategies, and deliver successful outcomes by leveraging Big Data expertise. 
  • Manage and mentor a team comprising Data Engineers, Data Architects, and Lead Data Architects, guiding their professional development within the Big Data domain. 
  • Serve as the primary technical contact between customers and engineering teams, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the Big Data solution requirements. 
  • Lead and motivate teams throughout the project lifecycle, communicating effectively with all business and technical stakeholders. 
  • Advocate for GCP and AWS cloud Data solutions, directing high-value cloud migration strategies that employ best practices and agile methodologies. 
  • Establish credible, impactful relationships with customers to foster their advocacy for cloud and Big Data technologies. 
  • Architect and implement cutting-edge data solutions for clients, including data ingestion/pipeline design, data warehouse & lake architectures, and cognitive computing on AWS & GCP. 


Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of experience in Big Data solutions design and implementation, with a solid professional services background. 
  • Demonstrated experience with Cloud Data Solutions on AWS & GCP is essential. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading technical teams, with a strong focus on professional development in the context of Big Data. 
  • Proven strategic acumen in managing Data modernization projects, with a spotlight on Big Data. 
  • In-depth understanding and hands-on experience with Big Data Analytics, AI/ML Services, Automation, IaC, and related practices on AWS & GCP. 
  • Command of software development tools and methodologies related to Big Data. 
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. 
  • Agile in adopting new technologies and capable of quick learning. Technical degree in Computer Science or a related field. 
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional certification, with GCP certification is a Must.


Nice to Have:
  • 5+ years in customer-facing roles within software/technology, data analysis, or consulting, particularly with Big Data projects. 
  • Substantial experience with Big Data migrations and transformations. 
  • Architectural experience with Big Data solutions on GCP and AWS cloud. Agile methodologies expertise. 
  • Additional certifications in Big Data, AWS, GCP, Data Analytics, AI/ML, or related fields.

$180,300 - $308,000 a year
The following information is required by pay transparency legislation in the following states: CA, CO, HI, NY and WA. This information applies only to individuals working in these states. 

The anticipated starting pay range for Colorado is: $180,300 - $264,440.

The anticipated starting pay range for Hawaii and New York (not including NYC) is: $191,900 - $281,490.

The anticipated starting pay range for California, New York City and Washington is: $210,000 - $308,000.

Based on eligibility, compensation for the role may include variable compensation in the form of bonus, commissions, or other discretionary payments.

These discretionary payments are based on company and/or individual performance, and may change at any time.

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
