Job Summary
Red 6 seeks a self-motivated and detail-oriented Avionics Electronics Technician to bring augmented reality to life. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic components and systems. This role requires a high level of precision and adherence to industry standards, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic fast paced, growing technology startup bringing innovative augmented technology to the front lines. The Red 6 startup environment will allow you to define our production system and wear many hats across multiple functions. As our first production technician in the company, additional duties will include inventory management, shipping and receiving.
Key Responsibilities
Electronics Assembly:
Assemble and integrate electronic components, circuit boards, and wiring systems according to engineering schematics and work instructions.
Perform soldering, crimping, and wire harnessing, ensuring all connections meet IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
Follow detailed instructions for high level assemblies
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
Testing & Troubleshooting:
Conduct functional tests on electronic assemblies
Document test results, non-conformances, and repairs accurately in production logs and ERP systems.
Process Optimization:
Assist in the development and implementation of new production processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to suggest modifications that enhance product performance and reliability.
Inventory Management:
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and quality.
Maintain inventory control
Record inventory transactions accurately in the company’s ERP system.
Prepare and package aerospace components for shipment
Process shipping documentation and update records as required.
Experience, Skills and Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
5 years of experience in electronics assembly or production in an aerospace or high-reliability environment.
Proficiency in soldering and wire harnessing; IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certification preferred.
Familiarity with testing procedures, diagnostic equipment, and troubleshooting techniques for electronic systems.
Strong understanding of electronic schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
Ability to use various hand and power tools safely and effectively
Qualified candidates must have the ability to obtain a security clearance. This requires U.S. Citizenship.
Skills & Competencies:
Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Strong problem-solving abilities with a detail-oriented mindset.
Ability to work independently or in a team, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement processes is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 25 lbs. and perform repetitive tasks.
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods during assembly and testing.
Fine motor skills required for handling small electronic components.
Work Environment:
This position is primarily performed on a production floor or in a development lab environment with moderate noise levels.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as ESD (electrostatic discharge) gear is required.
