The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a highly qualified and motivated postdoctoral fellow candidate in Dr. Swami Iyer's lab. This is a full-time postdoctoral research position in computational biology. We are seeking highly motivated colleagues, interested in developing novel methods and applying bioinformatics approaches to analyze high-throughput sequencing datasets of different omics such as image, genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data to ultimately solve therapeutic challenges in lymphoma.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
This position focuses on the analysis of large-scale histopathology image and RNA sequencing datasets from lymphoma patients or patient-derived xenograft mouse models and integration with biological knowledge to understand patterns of therapeutic response and genetic drivers of resistance.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Individuals with a Graduate degree in computer science and preferably with master's degree in bioinformatics, computational Biology, data science, biostatistics or a related field are encouraged to apply. Experience with programming languages commonly used in data science, such as Python, R, and MATLAB and next generation sequencing data analysis experience, such as bulk-level and single-cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, TCR-seq, or other large-scale multi-omics data analysis is highly desirable. Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools, such as pandas, numpy, and ggplot2. Familiarity with database technologies, such as SQL, and experience working with large datasets. Understanding of genomics and molecular biology concepts related to lymphoma biology.
Experience working with image data, genomics data, including transcriptomics and epigenetics data, is highly desirable. Other Requirements: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and identify patterns and trends. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Knowledge of research ethics, HIPPA and data privacy regulations.
