About Us: The University Store, which includes the UMF Mailroom is the central hub for all student and staff needs on campus. We offer a wide range of products, from textbooks and stationery to university merchandise and convenience items. Our dedicated team ensures that students, faculty, and staff have access to essential resources and excellent retail services.


Responsibilities: As a Retail Services Assistant, your primary focus will be on providing exceptional customer service and supporting daily store operations. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Assists customers in finding products, answering inquiries, and processing sales transactions.
  • Maintains store cleanliness and organization, ensuring products are correctly labeled and stocked.
  • Receives and sorts incoming mail and packages, and coordinating outbound shipments.
  • Processes packages and returns, which includes Fedex, UPS and USPS.
  • Collaborates with team members to handle inventory management and replenishment.
  • Creates and contributes to the creation of visually appealing displays and promotions to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Provides support during peak periods and assisting with store events or promotions as needed.
  • Motivates individuals and encourages group effort.
  • Plans and anticipates problems and issues.
  • Provides excellent customer service via phone, online, and email.
  • Responds to customer requests, inquiries, and issues
  • Ensures appropriate documentation is provided in accordance with applicable accounting procedures, grant requirements, etc.
  • Verifies and proves cash-ups at end of day and resolves any potential discrepancies
  • Prepares and initiates cash deposits.
  • Verifying orders against packing slips and resolving discrepancies.
  • Resolving customer service issues; providing resolutions within established guidelines.
  • Updating databases and media platforms and verifying information.
  • Prepares memos and related communications.
  • Initiates and processes financial transactions for a broad range of accounts and sources
  • Participates in the Unviersisty Store opening and closing hours as needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED and 6 months retail service experience


Skills Requirements:

  • Providing exemplary customer service;
  • Using a computer and related software applications;
  • Performing mathematical calculations;
  • Monitoring and maintaining inventory and supplies;
  • Handling cash;
  • Handling multiple tasks simultaneously (e.g., sales floor, register, book stacks, telephone, etc.);
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
