Director of Development

The Director of Development & Gifts is responsible for overseeing and advancing the major gifts program at Rogers Memorial Hospital Foundation, reporting directly to the Executive Vice President. The Director will manage a portfolio of 50-75 major gift prospects and donors, focusing on cultivating and securing outright and planned gifts at a significant level. This role involves close collaboration with the Executive Vice President, foundation staff, the leadership team, and the medical leadership of Rogers Behavioral Health System. The Director is ultimately responsible for developing and executing strategies to meet annual fundraising goals through effective donor relations, stewardship, and engagement.

Fundraising Strategy & Leadership:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with the foundation’s mission and goals focusing on innovative approaches to maximize donor engagement.

  • Identify and pursue new fundraising opportunities, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and grants.

  • Collaborate with the Executive VP and other stakeholders to establish annual and long-term fundraising objectives, targeting fundraising outcomes between $1M and $2.5M annually.

Major Gifts and Donor Relations:

  • Build and cultivate strong relationships with key donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.

  • Steward existing donor relationships and engage new prospects through targeted outreach and personalized engagement.

  • Track and manage donor communications, ensuring a high level of stewardship and recognition for contributions.

Community/Stakeholder and Team Collaboration:

  • Engage with the community and stakeholders to raise awareness of the foundation’s initiatives, enhancing visibility and support for fundraising efforts.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the development team, ensuring alignment with the foundation’s overall objectives.

  • Work collaboratively with other departments, including communications and marketing, to enhance fundraising strategies.

  • Assist in training and mentoring staff and volunteers to support development goals.

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Manage the donor database to track and report on fundraising progress, donor engagement, and campaign effectiveness.

  • Provide regular updates to the Executive VP and foundation leadership on fundraising outcomes and opportunities for improvement.

Additional Job Description:

Education/Training Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nonprofit management, business administration, liberal arts, or related field required. Master’s degree in related field preferred.

  • Knowledge of all fundraising methodologies, particularly major gifts, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience. Proven track record and strong understanding of fundraising strategies, donor relations, and grant management.

  • Experience with grant knowledge from government agencies, foundations, and corporate entities preferred.

  • Experience with donor management software and CRM systems.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to travel nationally.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to work quickly and effectively in a fast-paced detail-oriented environment while adhering to deadlines.

  • Valid driver license. Must be granted insurable status by the Rogers Memorial Hospital insurance policy.
