Sales Support Representative

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Receive inquiries from customers, establish selling price via company pricing policy, prepare and submit tender/ quotation proposals to customer with a high focus on securing the order.
  • Follow up on tender/ quote to determine if they will become orders or lost sales. Provide feedback to management and outside sales for further follow-up.
  • Perform accurate and thorough order entry and assure proper contract review has been performed for each order.
  • Provide manufacturing with a complete and concise order package to ensure all customer requirements will be provided.
  • Communicate with customers timely to maintain customer satisfaction throughout job.
  • Provide liaison between outside sales, manufacturing, and customer by keeping close contact with prospective clients throughout sales cycle, beyond normal work hours, if necessary
  • Analyze and provide explanations to management when order does not meet acceptable levels of profitability.
  • Communicate as needed with inside and outside sales group to promote sales of company’s products and services.
  • Support receivables department as required to ensure payment terms are adhered per contract.
  • Conduct market research. This may include reading press releases, industry publications, and communication from other vendors, customers, and sales associates.
  • Assist Sales Management in developing pricing structures/ strategies for product/ service offering.
  • Actively involved in the training and mentoring of junior team members.
  • Assist Sales Management in developing forecast reporting and meeting company targets.
  • Represent the Sales Department on various high level projects or work groups.
  • Perform job functions in accordance with Vallourec Tube-Alloy’s Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain required department documents such as specifications, price list, discount list, customer account list, and any other controlled documents issued on sales.
  • Must be flexible to travel to other locations to assist in workload or attend external training as required.
  • Participate in Vallourec Tube-Alloy Employee training programs as required.
  • Fully and actively participate in the corporate QHS&E policies to promote a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Maintain a clean, neat personal appearance consistent with the philosophy and policies of Vallourec Tube-Alloy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field. Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in inside or outside sales is required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in inside or outside sales is required in lieu of Bachelors Degree

    Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures and leads by example

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Computer Skills: Preferred Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience entering sales orders and quotes in an ERP System
  • Knowledge of Inventory software; Order processing systems and Manufacturing software or equivalent combination
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before individuals, groups of customers, vendors, licensors, or employees of organization
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Must have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create and interpret bar graphs and/or customer related diagrams
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
