Overview of Science Platform

Reckitt’s science platform is looking for a team member to lead and support foundational research in several key areas of microbiome. You will be a part of a team focused on creating innovation pipeline and identifying new areas for future pipeline. Using a platform approach, this team is charged with building relevant research programs, capabilities, and partnerships

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical contributions in a fast-paced team environment to accelerate our efforts on building a research-driven product pipeline.
• Establish a research program focused on microbiome science.
• Actively engage with partners in academic/industrial community to identify opportunity in emerging microbiome science (focus area: virology)
• Collaborate with a diverse scientific team including mycologists, bacteriologists, and data scientists to accomplish team’s goals.
• Maintain strong relationship within all cross functional group stakeholders.
• Participate in planning, conducting, and reporting of experiments performed in the laboratory.
• Design and conduct MOA studies.
• Perform bioassays to support preclinical studies (e.g. ELISA, MIC, MBEC, time-kill, lytic assays, plaque assays, synergy studies, resistance determinations, etc).
• Maintain clear, legible, and detailed laboratory notebooks and relevant computer files.
• Utilize existing pipelines to process and analyze high-throughput sequence data.
• Preparing library and operating NGS.

Qualifications:

• A fresh Ph.D degree or Master degree with 4-5 years work experience in Virology, Molecular biology, Microbiology, or related field. Virology preferred.
• Hands on research experience in an industrial and academic setting working directly in the areas related to the microbiology.
• Previous experience in virology with a working understanding of molecular biology.
• Other microbiology relevant work experience is a plus.
• Prior work with standard scientific equipment: Light and fluorescent microscopes, UV spectrophotometer, pH meter, luminometers, ELISA reader, Real-Time PCR machine, LCMS, biohazard safety cabinets, NGS sequencer, etc.
• Knowledge of NGS methods and the statistical principles behind the current best practices in high-throughput data analysis.
• First-hand technical experience in handling NGS equipment.
• Hands on experience of analyzing high-throughput NGS data (genome assembly, RNA-seq, variant calling, etc).
• Knowledge in scripting Python or R is a plus (Vegan or Phyloseq-Bioconductor).
• Meticulous organization and record keeping skills to track research relevant files.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others as a member of the team to ensure that projects are handled smoothly and cooperatively.
• Proficiency in analyzing data, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to resolve routine issues using appropriate information.
• Demonstrated experience in performing analytical tests in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ability to interpret testing results and follow SOP document for appropriate action.
• Ability to effectively communicate with managers, and co-ordinate with various cross functional projects within and outside RB.
