the job:

amika is seeing an experienced Senior Director of Global Brand Management. This role requires a strong analytical, strategic, and creative mindset who can also get into the details and execute operationally. They will primarily be responsible for partnering with the SVP Marketing to help define long-term product and category strategy, build annual omni-channel marketing plans that help build brand equity and achieve business objectives, and guide the NPL process from start to finish. It also requires the ability to collaborate and engender trust with a broad range of cross-functional stakeholders from Product Development, Sales, Ecommerce, Education, Consumer Digital Engagement, Creative, Copy, Finance, Planning, and Purchasing teams, establishing themself as THE go to product expert. The successful candidate must possess excellent leadership and presentation qualities, with the ability to maximize the talents of their team.

location: hybrid

salary: $150,000 - $170,000 + benefits


what you'll do:

Global Marketing Strategy, Portfolio Management + Product Pipeline Development

  • Partnering with SVP Marketing to shape long-term product category vision and develop annual global marketing calendar + North America brand plans integrating new innovation, core re-support, + broader brand initiatives that will help achieve business objectives.
  • Help establish sources of growth that are brand right and accelerate diverse consumer acquisition efforts. Lead development and implementation of 3-year global product and category strategy from concept to final market execution, including new innovation, reformulations, limited edition, promotional kits, holiday, and other commercial programs.
  • Drive development of regular deep dive business reviews that leverage category, competitive, internal sales, and CRM data, as well as industry trends and consumer insights to identify and prioritize brand-building growth opportunities, translate into strategic recommendations (where to play, how to win), and support decision-making as needed.
  • Support SVP on market research projects + reporting to broader business as needed. Form a deep understanding of the existing and target amika customer segments, leveraging and champion insights throughout the GTM process.
  • Develop credibility as brand "product expert". Partner closely with product development director and education team to shape compelling "why to buy" product storytelling, concepts, claims, and unique product positioning with irresistible reasons to believe that will resonate with our target consumer and inform internal + external strategic documents including creative briefs, GTM launch decks, in-store merchandising, and retailer presentation slides.
  • Drive "gate" process and product pipeline alignment strategy with senior management and key commercial stakeholders. Responsible for consulting with cross-functional partners and driving alignment across the organization. Participate in key sales, retailer, and marketing presentations.
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with the global sales channels and education teams so that commercial needs are understood and integrated into annual planning, including bespoke retailer exclusives and sampling.
  • Oversee management, alignment, and regular communication of new launch calendar by channel and sku in partnership with international account teams.
  • Work with data and finance teams to ensure SKU performance results are aggregated into insights to drive strategic direction. Propose recommended pricing and opportunity sizing that is market + consumer-insight based, P&L appropriate, and supports accurate forecasting.
  • Oversee annual discontinuation and line edit process in collaboration with global sales, education, and planning.
  • Guide development of retailer and senior management presentations that showcase brand marketing programs and product strategies, including positioning and concept; COG analysis and pricing strategy; line management; and launch strategies.

Global GTM Strategy + Planning

  • Drive brand equity + perception with both our consumer and professional target by helping bring marketing calendar programs to life. Set the global go to market vision and objectives and develop robust, insightful creative briefs for new product launches, core re-support, + brand campaign activations to ensure alignment and consistency across the organization.
  • Drive timely development of robust marketing launch toolkits in collaboration with creative and editorial copy teams that deliver clear direction, rich storytelling, sharp product positioning, and assets that support the entire consumer journey. Connect the dots in facilitating communication and understand bigger picture needs across the business.
  • Support development of globally relevant, digital-first 360 content led by consumer engagement team in order to ensure consistency of messaging priorities.
  • Shape development for all .com content related to product launches, brand, and category initiatives (ie A+ content, landing pages) in partnership with ecommerce, editorial, product development, creative, and education teams.
  • Lead post-mortem analysis of new launches and campaigns with cross-channel partners, summarizing and sharing learnings across the organization to inform future initiatives and optimize campaigns.
  • Support development of brand sustainability content + communication strategy in close partnership with consumer engagement team and ESG lead.
  • Provide strategic guidance to bridge global marketing strategy with commercial relevance across trade marketing programs:
  • Serve as brand steward to align and ensure consistency of global visual merchandising, assortments, and trade event execution across all channels and markets.
  • Guide development of trade-specific programs including GWP, promotional kits, and sampling vehicles.
  • Partner with SVP Marketing to support international market requests and bespoke needs (ie China, new market expansion, launch events) by working closely with internal cross-functional partners.

must-haves:

  • 10-12 years experience in a global product marketing or brand development role (category strategy, product conceptual innovation, marketing planning, creative content, insight & analytics). strong knowledge of hair category ideal, but not required.
  • Passionate about product, competitive activity, and consumer trends for what's new + next.
  • Strong mix of analytical, strategic, and creative storytelling skills with proven ability to connect insights + data to strategic recommendations, creative ideas, and actions.
  • A strong, yet humble leader who is comfortable getting into the details and executing, but is also able to develop higher level strategy and effectively orchestrate a team with clear frameworks and processes to drive results.
  • Understanding of digital media + content marketing best practices with an ability to connect the dots from product concept to brief to final 360 GTM strategy.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Financial fluency
  • Experience working in smaller, entrepreneurial environments + scaling teams and processes for growth
  • Ability to develop and inspire a team of 3 direct reports; appx. 5-6 total team members.
  • Ability to manage time appropriately and meet aggressive deadlines while managing complexity to drive results during a changing business environment.
  • Collaborative, communicative, and super organized team player who can juggle multiple projects at once- you can balance long term strategic projects with daily fire drills, oversee complex cross-functional projects, and motivate and influence teams without direct responsibility.
