Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our highly skilled team as a Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL). Kite MSLs will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing relationships with current and future multiple myeloma thought leaders (TLs) and other health care providers in academic institutions. MSLs are field-based and will report to an Executive Director MSLs within the US Medical Affairs team. This role will support the assigned clinical trial sites for the Kite Multiple Myeloma Cell Therapy program in the Central Region and other locations as needed.


Responsibilities

  • Engage in peer-to-peer scientific exchange of complex clinical and scientific information
  • Develop and foster deep scientific relationships with principal investigators (PI), thought leaders (TLs), disease experts, and other health care providers including physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals within assigned territory
  • Engage in study awareness and accrual enhancement activities with clinical trial sites
  • Compliantly provide internal teams with feedback and insights from interactions and discussions with HCPs
  • Provide support at professional meetings, including staffing exhibits, reporting on scientific sessions, and facilitating meetings with Thought Leaders and HCPs
  • Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in hematology/oncology and the company’s therapeutic areas of interest
  • Provide clinical/scientific presentations to internal and external groups
  • Represent the company and Medical Affairs during exchanges with the medical and scientific community
  • Provide clinical input and training to internal functions as requested
  • Respond to and document unsolicited requests for scientific information
  • Provide support for content development and delivery of clinical presentations at Advisory Boards, as requested
  • Work closely with other field-based employees and headquarters-based staff to rapidly respond to questions from sites in the territory
  • Adhere to corporate and health care compliance guidance in all activities, including those related to clinical trials, scientific interactions with internal and external groups, and responses to unsolicited requests for medical/scientific information

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate and 2+ years of experience in biotech/pharma, healthcare or academia

OR

Master’s and 8+ years of experience in biotech/pharma, healthcare or academia

OR

Bachelor’s and 10+ years of experience in biotech/pharma, healthcare or academia

OR

Associate and 12+ years of experience in biotech/pharma, healthcare or academia

OR

High School Diploma/GED and 14+ years of experience in biotech/pharma, healthcare or academia

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree or healthcare license/certification (RN, RPh, PA, etc.)
  • 4-years previous MSL, Medical Affairs, and/or other industry experience in addition to prior clinical or research experience in multiple myeloma, hematologic malignancy or cell therapy
  • Existing relationships with institutions, practices, and/or hospitals in territory
  • Working understanding of hospital hematology/oncology and/or multiple myeloma departments and systems in the territory
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance environment
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Meaningful interpersonal skills including excellent collaboration, verbal and written communication
  • Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe®
  • Ability to travel frequently (50-70%), including overnight travel
  • Lives within the territory - TX, IL, IN, OH, WI, MN, MI, AL, MS, LA, AR

The salary range for this position is: $181,645.00 - $235,070.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
