Job Description
Purpose:
Under supervision of Central Supply team leader or supervisor of the Materials Management, a materials handler in central supplies, handles, moves and stores various medical supplies within the central supplies and patient's units.
Their main duties include loading and unloading different medical supplies, recording inventory and making sure that the units are stocked as assigned by the par levels.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The materials handler is charged with and responsible for:
- Transport supplies, stock and clean supply cabinets/shelves and clean supply room daily on In-patient units
- Take inventory and stock the assigned unit/s daily with medical supply as per par levels per unit
- Must maintain the par levels for that unit/s
- Must provide documentation for the inventory for each unit and submit to the designated person/area
- Is expected to take orders in the department by telephone for supplies and act accordingly
- Work closely with the clinical team and others in a cooperative manner
- Must meet deadlines and complete work assignment
- May be required to work overtime to supply items for patient welfare
- Deliver emegency items as required or requested. Fill orders and issues supplies as required. Assist with the physical inventory as needed
- Must wear uniform provided by the organzation
- Perform all duties in alignment with the mission, vision and behavioral expectations of NYC Health + Hospitals
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read and write English and to understand and carry out simple instructions.
Department Preferences
- Basic knowlede of the inventory control, medical supplies, logistics
- Able to follow instructions
- Physically fit with the ability to lift and push objects, medical supply cart
- Able to read and write English
- Approachable and being a team player
- Basic computer skills preferred
