1410 - Senior Training SME - Joint Fires Support Lead

Sigma Defense is seeking a Senior Training SME - Joint Fires Support Lead in Virginia Beach, VA.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled Training SME with knowledge gained over years of experience at senior levels. They promote greater information sharing for staffs and stakeholders. They provide realistic as well as reliable, consistent support and well-developed recommendations to various audiences in training and real world events. They will maintain the integrity of the training objectives and maintain a knowledge base that is consistent with the requirements that cover the full spectrum of tasks listed in the contract. SMEs serve as the catalyst for developing and evaluating requirements. They provide the expertise and insight to support programs and leaders at all levels, including very senior levels, civilian and military sectors. They are experienced subject matter experts in their fields of expertise

This is a contingent position that is pending award of contract. This means that the position is subject to the successful awarding of a contract and will be confirmed once the contract is finalized. The candidate selected for this role will be offered the position on the condition that the contract is awarded to our organization.

8 years of relevant experience in the following if degree is held; 10 years of experience if no degree is held:

  • Subject matter expert for respective task requirements (e.g. Academics, Warfare Area(s), Program or Policy support).
  • Training manager.
  • Developing training curriculums.
  • Conducting fleet/ joint training assessments to identify gaps, training needs and solutions.
  • Delivering training in person and/or online.
  • Developing and modifying training event/exercise scenarios.
  • Managing training projects
  • Team and/or project leader.
  • Designing custom training to meet training objectives.
  • Public speaker and presentation skills.
  • Engaging Senior Staff at the Flag Officer/Director/Manager level.
  • Handling multiple priorities and interruptions with minimal impact on productivity/deliverables.  

3 years of JTAC experience.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an unspecified field of study.
  • 10 years of experience is required if no degree is held.
  • Equivalent to a degree is 2 years of Resource Band experience.

Personnel Clearance Level:

  • Candidate must possess an active, DoD-issued Secret security clearance or higher.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

Support Tasks:

  • Support all aspects of the certification process for EWTGL fires courses. These courses include:
    • Tactical Air Control Party
    • Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC)
    • Joint Fires Observer (JFO)
    • Fire Support Coordination Center (FSCC)
    • ARG/MEU staff planning course
  • Provide JTAC instructor (JTAC-I) support, per the JCAS AP MOA.
  • Provide classroom lecture, practical application, simulator, and field instruction to students.
  • Provide syllabus training in JCAS and call-for-fire TTPs to include instructing and monitoring the execution of live controls.
  • Conduct evaluation of student performance and make recommendations to the N8 Course Manager’s on the eligibility of each student for certification as a JTAC and JFO.
  • Provide M&S training operations and scenario development to include:
    • Support through operation of multiple systems such as the Combined Arms Virtual Environment (CAVE) and the Deployable Virtual Training Environment.
    • Operate these systems and provide realistic scenario development utilizing war-gaming software.
    • Develop scenarios that require utilization of emulated military equipment for the evaluation of student skills.
  • Provide support and assistance for the preparation, operation and maintenance of the M&S/training devices directly supporting the courses of instruction.
  • Provide academic training and education in person to develop, maintain and distribute instructional material supported by outlines, lesson plans, reference material, briefs, lectures, videos, scenarios, handouts, study guides, testing materials, critiques and feedback.
  • Provide tailored teaching products and scenarios as approved by course managers.
  • Assist the government/stakeholders to maintain, update and standardize the instructor certification program and ensure instructor knowledge and presentation skills maintain current credentials. The Government shall be the final approving authority for the instructor certification program.     

Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually.
