Our Estimators are an integral part of the team – leading constructability reviews, preparing, and presenting estimates to our clients. The Estimator will work primarily on negotiated commercial interior projects in California within our core marketplaces: corporate office, life science, healthcare, and advanced technology. In this role you will work closely with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors. This role is expected to travel between office locations of San Jose and San Francisco on a need-be basis.


As an (Estimator), you will serve in the following areas:
  • Ability to prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade specific requirements and comprehensive bid packages.
  • Understanding and knowledge of the factors that affect construction cost and schedule.
  • Experience with responding to a Request for Proposal (RFP’s) including preparing for and participating in client interviews and pitches.
  • Good communication with suppliers and vendors to discuss pricing or other requests and their due dates.
  • Work with subcontractors to handle their requests effectively and efficiently.
  • Prepare and distribute time-sensitive materials to meet the needs of the project. 
  • Coordinate activities of the team from conceptual pricing to proposal.
  • Must have experience with the bidding process: soliciting bids, communicating with the bidders, evaluating subcontractor proposals, using bid tally sheets, etc. 
  • Monitor and update vendor information and manage vendor databases for each market served.
  • Responsible for the preparation of detailed estimate updates, and as design and scope change, preparing variance summaries highlighting the changes between estimates.  
  • Responsible for leading a target value design estimate.
  • Willingness and desire to actively participate in Design Development and Value Engineering sessions with the project team, design team, and client.
  • Experience preparing detailed conceptual cost estimates and conceptual cost studies from schematic.
  • Responsible for participating in and leading the preparation and presentation of cost and budget information to the customer or owner.
  • Has the ability to develop business with new and existing customers.
  • Ability to look beyond the information that has been given, to ask the right questions and work to provide a complete project cost evaluation.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction cost.


The successful candidate will possess:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator, preferably in the Tenant Improvement Marketplace.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • A strong work ethic.
  • Creative and innovative approaches and solutions on a project-by-project basis. 
  • Ability to identify, adapt to, and resolve complex issues. 
  • Effective participation in a team environment, with both external and internal teammates. 
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex issues so that they can effectively be managed.
  • Effective and willing participation in a team environment.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Estimating software (OST or similar), Project Management software (Procore or similar), and Scheduling software (MS project or similar).

$107,756 - $156,246 a year
The actual salary offer will be carefully considered based on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for health, disability, life, dental, vision and retirement benefits.
