Software Development Engineer in Test - Content Integration

This role can be done from home

Building the world’s leading sound experience starts with the experience we provide for our people. That’s why we’ve been distributed from the start: initially between offices in Boston & Santa Barbara, and now with additional offices in Seattle, San Francisco, and Paris. This role can be done from anywhere in the United States - any of our offices, or remotely from home. It’s about impact, not location.

As a member of the Cloud Software Quality Engineering team, your role will be to ensure the quality of the cloud-based microservices, and continuous deployment pipeline. Our goal is to ensure that we can rapidly release high quality software, iterate confidently and support our customers easily. Our goal is to ensure quality code is delivered quickly and confidently.

What You’ll Do

Dive into our cloud services, learning through first hand experience
Monitor, debug and be responsible for improving our automated & analytics infrastructure
Add and democratize new forms of telemetry, data, and metrics to allow the team to measure, debug, and make decisions based on data analytics and dashboards
Own and update the development experience via automated pipelines that includes timely feedback and a seamless path to release-level quality
Create new automation suites
Engineer new automated testing methodologies
Own services from end-to-end by being part of the on-call rotation
Collaborate with other cross-functional teams when issues are found in deployed/production features

What You’ll Need

Basic Qualifications

Experience in a backend or cloud technologies
Knowledge of QA methodology and tools, software testing processes and best practices
Object-oriented design and coding skills (Java/NodeJS preferred) with knowledge of JSON and API development

Basic Skills

Ability to break down complex problems into elegant, testable pieces
Demonstrated knowledge and expertise with:
- AWS compute, database and networking services
- Kubernetes and Docker
- Jenkins (or other CI build systems)
- RESTful API testing
- Building out and using automated test frameworks (Spring, JUnit, TestNG, Mocha, Jest)
- Code repositories (Github) / Jira

Preferred Skills

Demonstrated knowledge and expertise with:
- CI/CD pipelines
- Apigee, API gateway solutions
- Configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform)
- Code quality tools (Sonarqube)
- Data Analytics skills (CloudWatch, DataDog, Tableau, Kibana, Grafana, LOKI)
- Proficiency in Performance Engineering/Testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling
Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment, challenge yourself, ask questions, and learn from failure

At Sonos we consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may lead individual compensation to vary depending on job related qualifications, skills, and experience. All full time employees are eligible for merit increases, discretionary bonuses, and equity. Our job postings may span more than one career level and the base pay range may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting base pay for this role for all US candidates is between:

$88,000 and $139,700

Please note that compensation details listed in US job postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
