POSITION SUMMARY:
The Software Quality Assurance Analyst I executes testing procedures to ensure that software meets established quality standards. They rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals as well as work with a level of creativity to ensure that the end user’s experience is a positive one.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Uphold the Mission Statement of AmeriFlex
Executes testing procedures to ensure that software meets established quality standards
Prepares data sets to test logic, error handling and system workflows
Tests the implementation of new features and functionality
Uses knowledge of systems and technologies, as well as, troubleshooting skills to investigate defects in order to determine the potential cause for failed tests
Isolates, reproduces tracks defects and verifies defect resolution
Documents and communicates test results according to required procedures
Maintains test cases and related documentation for changes in functionality, workflow and integrated systems
Assists with the creation of new test cases
In the absence of written test cases, conduct smoke tests based on other communication sources; written, verbal or diagram
Coordinates with SQA Lead on application defects and enhancements to ensure proper escalation and follow up
Participates in scheduled meeting including Sprint Review, and Retrospective meetings
May work directly with members of the development team and product owner
Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
An understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC) and defect resolution process
Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills; evidence of strong judgment and analytical ability including: analyzing complex problems, identifying critical elements and alternatives
Strong listening, presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Ability to communicate test results, question and potential improvement in both technical and user-friendly language
Ability to prioritize and work on concurrent projects, activities and tasks under time constraints
Ability to shift priorities based upon changing company needs
Works methodically and must be able to quickly learn new systems and processes
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as, independently
Knowledge of Google Workspace applications and tools preferred. Microsoft Excel and Word acceptable
An understanding of business processes
CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE:
BA or BS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline preferred
2-3 years of experience as a Quality Analyst/Business Analyst in an IT environment
Experience with testing web-based software applications
Experience or exposure to testing of web services
Experience or exposure to Agile/SCRUM is preferred
Experience with SQL preferred
Experience with Team Foundation Server, Jira or other version control system
Experience testing applications on multiple browsers
Experience testing in mobile environments is preferred
Experience documenting business requirements a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work in an office environment; sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time; use hands to grasp and reach; occasionally stoop or kneel; see, hear, and speak with sufficient acuity to successfully perform all aspects of the job; use telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; lift up to ten pounds of weight.
