We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Material Scientist to join our dynamic team. This dual-role position focuses on both research and design, as we quickly scale our novel technology. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem-solver with a can-do attitude. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with small multidisciplinary teams to drive projects from concept to commercialization.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new materials development activities
Conduct research and experiments to develop novel CO2 sorbent materials with specific properties and characteristics
Analyze and characterize materials using advanced techniques such as SEM, IR spectroscopy, TGA, XRF, and others
Design and implement testing protocols to evaluate material properties and performance
Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new materials
Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate research findings
Stay current with the latest advancements in materials science and related technologies
Qualifications:
PhD in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field;
3-5 years of industry experience in materials development or related research roles
Hands-on experience with material characterization techniques and analytical equipment
Proficiency in data analysis and experimental design
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with product lifecycle assessment and sustainability principles is a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a startup or growth company
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for prolonged periods. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment: Must have flexibility to work longer schedules to complete necessary tasks. Ability to wear PPE especially while working with chemicals and hazardous materials.
