Backend Engineer - Podcast

The “Podcast Mission” is the product and technology team at Spotify responsible for building the best-in-class tools for podcast creators. We lead the platforms, tools, and features that deliver a great creator experience, allowing podcasters to host, create, and distribute their episodes, while making money from their art and growing and engaging with their audience.


We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our tight knit and collaborative team. Your strong backend engineering skills will help expand our enterprise podcasting solution, Megaphone, by developing critical integrations with broader Spotify technology. 


What You'll Do
  • Enhance enterprise creator’s capabilities through crafting and implementing enterprise-grade backend service solutions with partnerships across Spotify.
  • Contribute to our mission of unifying Spotify’s creator technologies.
  • Build and maintain critical integrations using Kubernetes, Ruby on Rails, and Java.


Who You Are
  • You have 2+ years of working experience as a Backend Engineer working with Ruby on Rails or Java, and have the appetite to work in both. Experience with GraphQL, gRPC, Kubernetes, GCP, Postgres, and Bigtable is a plus.
  • You have experience developing interfaces to both internal and external services.
  • You have a curiosity about the podcast industry and building products to solve podcasters’ biggest challenges.


Where You'll Be
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the EST, CST and PST time zones as long as we have a work location


The United States base range for this position is $122,716 -$175,308 plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. This range encompasses multiple levels. Leveling is determined during the interview process.  Placement in a level depends on relevant work history and interview performance. These ranges may be modified in the future.
