PAY RANGE
The Target Pay Range for this position is $143,400-$175,300 annually. The full Pay Range is $111,300-$207,400 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

SUMMARY
BECU is looking for a Staff Operations Engineer who will bring a high level of experience to support, administer and analyze our SQL Enterprise Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory and Informatica ETL platform. The ability to effectively collaborate closely with internal IT teams as well as external business partners to carry out administration function, such as patch installation, upgrades, configuration, license management, backup, load balancing techniques production issues, tickets and regular maintenance activities will also be important to the success of this role.
Work location: Remote work within TX, GA, WA, AZ, SC, OR and ID only.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform all responsibilities per BECU Competencies, compliance, regulatory, and Information Protection requirements.

Prepare teams in creating and deploying products and services with a security first mindset. Includes security considerations in all updates and changes.

Create and support bi-modal and hybrid infrastructure, including products and services as required by customer and business needs.

Present and communicate technical expertise, guidance, and advice to product teams and peers. Bring best practices to the engineering community where appropriate.

Attend conferences, training, and communities of practice to stay aligned with organizational and industry patterns.

Analyze complex telemetry and problem trends for gaps and improve coverage to reduce outages and time to resolution. Implement telemetry for operations to increase reliability, availability, and confidentiality of products and services. Provide coaching to other engineers on the team.

Create process and dataflow diagrams.

Manage, develop, and automate services and processes using knowledge of scripting languages.

Perform advanced code and peer reviews using modern software methodologies in partnership with senior engineers and managers.

Develop prototypes, proofs of concept, and solutions by combining technical expertise with a deep understanding of service design, and coach junior engineers when needed.

Collaborate and mentor with team members to design and implement best practices given requirements for software and systems.

Analyze security metrics, vendor announcements, threat intelligence, and reports to complete work items for remediation.

Remediate configurations, system vulnerabilities, and risks assigned by priority.

Design and develop market leading solutions by combining technical mastery with a solid understanding of strategic business drivers.

Partner with executives and architects to drive technical strategies within their expertise across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience required. Advanced degree preferred.

Minimum 7 years of related functional experience required. Minimum 2 years of experience in two or more of the following disciplines: Business Analysis, Business Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Unified Communications, Virtualization, Web and Application Development, Infrastructure Services: Enterprise Maintenance and Support, Infrastructure Support, Desktop and Client Support required.

Proven experience designing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting products and services and systems to production in a team environment required.

Technical focus in two or more of the following disciplines required: Microsoft Azure IaaS/PaaS, SaaS, Hypervisor, Enterprise SANs, Backups, Microsoft M365, Operating Systems, Hardware Solutions, Infrastructure-as-Code, or other modern enterprise infrastructure systems.

Advanced understanding of how to troubleshoot, monitor, integrate, configure, and administer SaaS applications and/or internal platforms for BECU's use required.

Advanced experience optimizing, debugging using one or more scripting languages. Uses systematic debugging/troubleshooting to diagnose cross service issues required.

Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies and lean principles (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Demos, Retrospectives, etc.) required.

Advanced knowledge in the Build, Monitor, and Maintenance of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS Systems required.

Proficient verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with executives, leadership, product groups and peers are required.

Proven experience using ITIL, traditional infrastructure, service management, modern software delivery practices, end-to-end automation concepts, and how to leverage tools to achieve these goals preferred.

Advanced experience integrating security at design time, and regularly evaluating efficacy of security measures preferred.

Any certification in Microsoft and/or competing Cloud Technologies strongly preferred.

Ability to work well in a hybrid team environment required.

Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required to/from BECU facilities.

Full time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.

On-call support rotations to provide 24 x 7 coverage will be required.
