Meet the team:

In the Intelligent Systems team, we convert photons into understanding, primarily via computer vision and machine learning. Our organization is responsible for all downstream tasks of the vehicle sensor suite onboard, as well as the full offboard/cloud infrastructure for machine learning at Latitude.

What you’ll do:

• Collaborate with perception experts and experienced roboticist to build solutions that scale from the lab to the customer, for one of the largest-scale robotics projects in history.
• Architect, design, and implement state of the art and beyond solutions in your domain- some example domains that are within our remit:
• Design and implement algorithms to build HD maps from the grounds up. 
• Evaluate those algorithms and iterate by designing and implementing relevant metrics.
• Design and implement algorithms to compare different generations of map products across time.
• Collaborate with engineers across teams to improve the maps. It requires not only developing algorithms to build good maps, but also understanding how the maps are consumed by different modules, so that sensible decisions can be made.

What you'll need to succeed:

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field
• Solid understanding of probability, geometry, linear algebra and graph theory.
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms relevant to mapping, location based services, SLAM.
• Solid programming skills and software engineering practice.
• Knowledge of modern C++ and/or Python is a plus.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, task-prioritization and teamwork skills
• Experience in working with large and scalable systems is a plus

Nice to have:

• Master’s or PhD degree in Robotics, ECE, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Track record of technical leadership (not limited to management) taking products or large features from research to consumer release.
