The Role

As part of the Sessions pod, you'll be shaping the future of a core component in the event experience: interactive live discussions. We provide the tools to help organisers, speakers and attendees engage with their community in sessions that feel closer than a typical lecture or meeting.

We are looking for a self-motivated engineer with a passion for our business and for technology innovation. We look for individuals with deep knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML who are comfortable writing custom JavaScript but also know when to apply off-the-shelf solutions for the problem. We also value people who are advocates for user experience and seek to get the little details right. We currently work with TypeScript, React, and Next.js, but the ability to adapt to changing technology is an important strength. You believe in leaving things better than you found it - whether that be a piece of code, a jira ticket, or the new team you’re joining. We have a #NoEgo philosophy, so we love to collaborate and learn from each other together to come up with the best solution.

Responsibilities

  • Architecting, developing and shipping customer facing code.
  • Supporting and mentoring the direct team.
  • Helping deliver a maintainable, performant, and testable code base.
  • Writing asynchronous code that interacts with real time content.
  • Understand and influence back end decisions to drive for a better overall system.
  • Identifying unaddressed business needs or inefficiencies, translating them into actionable plans for multiple teams.
  • Helping elevate Hopin as an engineering organisation, working on transversal initiatives and raising awareness of best practices.

About You

  • Up to date with modern JavaScript practices, including reactive design and state management.
  • Proficient with React.JS.
  • Great understanding of the DOM and client-side performance.
  • Experienced in at least one strongly typed language.
  • Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for front end applications.
  • Familiar with all the types of testing, from end to end to unit testing.
  • Organised and self-motivated, you master effective communication with colleagues in a fully remote, global team.
  • T-shaped, with frontend expertise but capability across the stack. Ruby and Node.js knowledge are a plus.
