Product Maintenance and Improvement: Proactively identify and address issues in current robotic arms and grippers to enhance reliability, performance, and user satisfaction. Use both Solidworks and Creo to implement design changes that improve product durability, ease of assembly, and cost, without compromising functionality.
Redesign parts and assemblies to improve performance, add features, reduce mass, reduce cost, and improve reliability, lifetime, performance, etc.
Update drawings as necessary in support of design changes
Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: Employ a deep understanding of engineering principles to diagnose failures in our robotic systems. Develop and implement solutions to recurring problems by conducting thorough root cause analysis and deploying corrective actions that prevent future occurrences.
Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvements: Analyze existing products to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements. This includes material substitution, part consolidation, and enhancing manufacturing processes while maintaining or improving product quality and performance.
Lifecycle Management: Monitor and extend the lifecycle of robotic systems through strategic updates and upgrades. Manage the phase-out of obsolete components and integrate new, more efficient parts without disrupting product functionality.
Supplier and Manufacturing Support: Serve as the engineering liaison between suppliers, manufacturing, and the design team. Ensure that part designs are optimized for manufacturability and assembly, and assist in resolving supplier-related issues that affect product quality.
Quality Assurance Support: Collaborate with the manufacturing team to establish criteria for part inspection and acceptance. Review non-conforming parts and use a detailed understanding of product specifications and performance requirements to decide how to handle them.
Documentation and Process Improvement: Update and maintain comprehensive documentation, including BOMs, assembly procedures, and inspection plans. Recommend and implement process improvements to streamline production and assembly lines. Manage any ongoing changes in PDM/PLM systems.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers, manufacturing, procurement, and other departments to ensure product and process optimization. Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve engineering issues.
Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Share expertise and knowledge with team members to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Mentor junior engineers and technicians in sustaining engineering practices and principles.
