Summary of Duties As an Eligibility Worker, you will: Play a critical role in providing a safety net that supports better outcomes for Oregonians. Provide resources that support individual and family stability. Determine eligibility for people applying for various programs and benefits through interviewing, gathering and assessing information. Programs we administer include Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Long Term Care (LTC) services, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Employment Related Day Care (ERDC), Domestic Violence services and various Medicaid (Health insurance) programs. Minimum Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must be bilingual in Russian and English. Two years of experience determining eligibility for an agency program by interviewing to assess the needs of clients and interpreting and applying the policies, rules, and guidelines applicable to the client's situation. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience relative to the class concept. Essential Attributes We are looking for candidates with: Experience documenting technical or complex information in a clear, concise manner that allows colleagues to review and understand independently. Experience respectfully interviewing customers to obtain relevant information and personal data. Experience adapting communication style to explain complex processes and/or outcomes to people who learn and communicate differently than you. Experience organizing and prioritizing a high volume of work. Experience providing customer service to the public in-person, over the phone and in writing to diverse community members. Working Conditions The work schedule is 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday in-person at the Salem ODHS branch office.
