DSHS's Developmental Disabilities Administration has a great career opportunity for a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist to use their dedication to food and dietetics in Burien, WA. If you are a dietitian looking to utilize your clinical nutrition skills to impact our community, this fantastic opportunity is for you!This job performs professional level nutrition assessments, counseling and education and provides medical nutritional therapy in an institutional psychiatric setting.The Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility opened in July, with support from the Department of Social and Health Services, the Department of Children, Youth and Families, Health Care Authority, MultiCare, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.This facility has 12 beds and 108 full-time employees with potential growth to 24 beds and 196+ full-time employees. The property was designed with children and youth in mind and features accessible spaces for onsite educational services and therapies, as well as access to outdoor space. This new therapeutic facility is for youth, age 13 and older, who have co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities with complex needs such as behavioral health issues or substance use disorders.King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use. Also, opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.Some of what you will do• Assess nutrition status and provide care for our client population of diverse needs• Recommend appropriate interventions including therapeutic diet orders, oral supplements, and enteral nutrition orders• Monitor and document client response to interventions and individual progress• Evaluate and monitor nutritional status and update plan for care• Design and provide nutrition education to clients individually and in group settings• Promote optimal health at the client-level and hospital-wide• Participate in the planning of nutritionally adequate menus• Conduct peer chart reviews and provide feedback to the supervisor• Participate in department meetings and communicate with the care team and peers• Participate in quality assurance by performing tray evaluations and auditing resident dietary records• Order food and supplies from vendors, maintaining adequate inventoryWho should apply?• Registered Dietitian status with 24 months recent full-time experience as an R.D.• Bachelor's Degree, or higher, with major in Dietetics, Foods and Nutrition or Food Service Administration• And completion of Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics approved dietetic education programPreferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:• Medical nutrition therapy• Working with confidential client information• Instructing others and effectively communicate both verbally and in writingSee why people like you chose careers with DSHS.This advertisement has been reopened to allow additional qualified people to apply.
