Substack is building a new economic engine for culture, with over 3 million paid subscriptions to writers, podcasters, and video-makers on the platform. We’re driving a fundamental shift in how creators reach their audiences. As our Launch Manager, you will work on our Partnerships team to launch the next generation of media businesses on Substack.
In this role, you’ll support the launch moment for new Substack stars with project management, resourcing, technical expertise, and guidance on best practices. Along with a love of storytelling and strong attention to detail, you will be obsessed with the internet and excited by the opportunity to work directly with creators. You’ll have a wide network of contacts in audio and video production, and you’ll be ready to get right in the weeds alongside publishers as they launch their new businesses. No task is too small for you. This position will report to the Head of Operations, Partnerships.
Substack’s compensation package includes a market-competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation salary range for this role is $110,000 - $135,000. Multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, determine final offer amounts and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Core responsibilities:
- Work closely with the A&D team to launch new superstars on Substack
- Work with writers, creators, and podcasters to develop publication plans and successfully launch their Substack publications
- Partner closely with the internal marketing, product, and data teams to deeply understand compelling new tactics for media businesses to use in their launch moments and beyond
- Work cross functionally to help uplevel our internal resources on successfully launching a Substack, especially as it relates to external channels like X, Instagram, and TikTok
- Work directly with writers and creators, owning the launch process from end to end
About You (Minimum Requirements):
- Excellent written, verbal, and diplomatic skills, with a sharp attention to detail.
- A voracious reader and subscriber to Substacks, with a keen sense of the evolving tech and media landscape.
- Interest in building the playbook (principles, strategy) and then scaling it (building solutions, processes, and teams)
- Previous sales or customer success experience is a plus
- Experience working with a CRM platform such as Salesforce, Hubspot, etc
- Experience in the podcast industry is a plus
