Supervises daily activities of a team within a function or campus. Responsible for direct coaching and discipline of
employees. Uses significant independent judgment and familiarity of the field to perform work. Responsible for
administration of various complex function or campus programs and serves as the lead of a group of employees.
Develops policies and procedures and oversees the implementation and execution of them. Typically required to
complete tasks of subordinate-level roles, when needed.
Position Summary
The Supervisor, Child Nutrition ensures compliance with federal, state, and local policies and reporting guidelines
for the Food and Child Nutrition Services. Monitors the Texas Department of Agriculture Breakfast, Lunch and
Snack Programs following USDA guidelines.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Analyzes reports to assess school-based food and child nutrition operations to ensure efficient, cost
effective, and quality delivery of services.
2. Supervises staff and assists with assessing school based, departmental needs, and make
recommendations for inclusion in annual budget process.
3. Ensures the successful implementation and compliance of the School Lunch and Child Nutrition Program
in the District. Interprets, enforces, and applies policies and regulatory requirements controlling the work
of the department.
4. Remains apprised of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program.
5. Provides monthly staff development and annual orientations to educate staff on critical food service
protocols such as sanitation and safety, inventory/food quality, customer service, etc.
6. Works collaboratively with the University of Incarnate Word and the University of Texas San Antonio
Dietetics Programs to schedule and oversee the school food service rotation of didactic training of the
dietetic interns pursing their degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
7. Provides input into specifications, coordinates bids and reviews for accuracy in posting, extensions,
requests and receives samples for testing, compares product to bid specifications.
