We’re looking for an ambitious, technically rooted, and commercially driven Director of Product Engineering to lead and inspire our engineering teams responsible for our mobile and web tax filing products. This is a strategic senior leadership role with high visibility and impact, reporting directly to the CTO and working hand-in-hand with Product, Data, and Design.
We believe technology managers and leaders at all levels should be professionals at technology, should be able to jump into any project and understand the bits & bolts of the technologies their teams use. If you are one of those people that don’t want to “just manage” and still excited about building products along with building teams, you will fit here very well.
Define and evolve the long-term technical architecture and product engineering strategy aligned with business goals.
Actively contribute to architectural reviews and design sessions—ensuring systems are scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-efficient.
Champion AI integration and platform innovation to unlock user value and operational leverage.
Serve as the key engineering voice in product strategy discussions—ensuring engineering decisions reflect customer and commercial priorities.
Drive time-to-market efficiency while balancing technical trade-offs with business impact.
Collaborate closely with Product Management, Marketing, and Data to drive measurable outcomes (e.g., conversion, retention, LTV).
Lead and inspire a high-performance, cross-functional engineering organization (mobile, web, frontend, backend, AI).
Build and scale teams that are technically exceptional, AI-native, mission-aligned, and highly collaborative.
Promote a culture of ownership, customer obsession, technical craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
Ensure engineering execution is world-class: efficient sprint delivery, strong observability, and robust QA practices.
Establish clear metrics, OKRs, and continuous feedback loops for technical quality, velocity, and team health.
Drive alignment across geographically distributed teams, acting as a cultural bridge between Berlin HQ and Madrid tech hub.
10+ years in software engineering with at least 5 years in senior engineering leadership roles at fast-scaling tech companies.
Proven track record of building and operating high-scale B2C or B2B2C platforms, in multiple markets, ideally in fintech consumer apps.
Deep hands-on system design and architecture experience across modern web and mobile stacks (e.g. TypeScript, React, Go, Kotlin/Swift).
Experience in architecting and scaling AI/ML-powered features
Experience Integrating AI in all development stages – requirements gathering, prototyping, design, coding, testing, deployment and maintenance.
Strong commercial orientation: understands CLV/CAC dynamics, conversion funnels, and the engineering impact on business outcomes.
Exceptional communication and influencing skills, including with C-level executives and non-technical stakeholders.
Comfortable leading across cultures and locations; experience managing distributed teams in a hybrid environment.
Experience in regulated industries or building certified systems (e.g., GDPR, EU AI Act) is very nice to have.
You are a diversity champion!
A chance to do meaningful, people-centric work with an international team of passionate professionals.
Holistic well-being with free mental health coaching sessions and yoga.

Employee stock options for all employees—because everyone deserves to benefit from the success they help to create.
30 annual vacation days and flexible working hours.
Work from abroad for up to six weeks every year. Just align with your team, and then enjoy your trip.
Plenty of opportunities to socialise as a team. In addition to internal tech meetups, our international team hosts regular get-togethers—virtually and in person when possible.
