Data Analyst

This is a great opportunity to work as part of the Operational Analytics team within the wider Insight & Analytics (I&A) team, powering The Telegraph’s business towards our goal of 1.5m subscribers. The Operational Analytics team ensures data integrity of several of our key data products across Editorial, Subscriptions and Advertising and delivers best in class BI and reporting tools that not only measure our KPIs but promotes self-serve across the business.

This is a hybrid role suitable for someone who has experience in the insight & analytics function but also has a strong, technical data background and enjoys solving data challenges, or a budding analytics engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct data investigations across platforms used by Insight & Analytics, exploring the data and providing recommendations to help with resolutions.
  • Ensure the business logic for key I&A data is up-to-date, allowing for seamless reporting and analytical delivery across the department.
  • Keep our documentation up to date from both a technical and business facing point of view
  • Undertake maintenance & scope requirements for the Single Customer View data asset, collaborating with our Data Platform & Technology teams.
  • Understand the end to end view of data processing, whilst continuously identifying opportunities for improvement and automation.
  • Develop new data products and tools that can be utilised across Insight & Analytics and wider business stakeholders, to optimise insight generation and deliver quicker results
  • High SQL literacy, with the ability to join and transform multiple, complex datasets
  • Experience working with large datasets, such as digital analytics hit logs or large customer databases at a raw/hit level
  • Ability to communicate and present complex data simply and clearly to non-technical stakeholders of all levels across The Telegraph
  • Experience with building dashboards and visualisations in BI tools (e.g. Google/Looker Data Studio, Tableau or similar)
  • A positive and productive attitude that proactively finds solutions to problems, constructively balancing the speed and quality of delivery.
  • Stakeholder management skills. We’re not a ticket in/out team, but a partner to the business that helps set successful growth strategies and proactively identify new opportunities.
