Graphic & Packaging Designer

Thuma is seeking a Graphic & Packaging Designer to support the Product Team. In this role, you will be responsible for graphic and packaging design across all product development, including both structural packaging and brand communication, developing thoughtful assembly instructions, and elevating product storytelling. We are looking for someone who is creative, self motivated, able to work within tight deadlines, and a great technical problem solver.

Thuma’s Headquarters is based in the historic Presidio neighborhood of San Francisco. This role is based in San Francisco and requires 3 days in office weekly.

In recognition of the personal and professional benefits that team members gain from time spent together in person, we organize a range of events throughout each year designed to bring our entire team together!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design world-class product packaging and assembly instructions that effectively communicate product features, incorporate technical information, and enhance user experience.
  • Create technical drawings, logo tags and care instructions for textile, decor, and lifestyle products.
  • Ensure all designs meet manufacturing, regulatory, and sustainability standards.
  • Present creative concepts and final deliverables to cross functional team stakeholders.
  • Revise designs based on feedback/direction.
  • Comfortably use and build upon design guidelines.
  • See projects through the whole creative process from concept to production.
  • Effectively manage timelines across concurrent projects while creating high-quality work.
  • Partner with Design Operations to assess and refine design workflows/processes that enhance collaboration and efficiency across the Product Team.
  • Understand, speak and help build brand philosophy and design language across all product touch points.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor packaging strategies to inform and develop innovative design solutions.

This Might Describe You:
  • Degree in Design or a related field.
  • 2+ years of professional design experience, including physical packaging experience design and physical product design.
  • Proficient in Rhino or other industry standard 3D programs.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design tools. Experience in Figma is a plus.
  • Creative, detail-oriented, adaptive, and an excellent visual communicator.
  • Strong understanding of structural packaging, print design, typography, layout, and branding principles.
  • You thrive in a collaborative environment and are able to work with creative and non-creative partners and stakeholders.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and autonomy—you proactively look for ways to add value that the broader team can feel.
  • You’re a team player and come to each new project with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
