Manager of Graphic Design

Thuma is seeking a talented and ambitious Manager of Graphic Design who has an exceptional eye for minimalistic and sophisticated design, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a drive to make a meaningful impact at a design-focused company and provide leadership to the Graphic Design team.


Reporting to the Design Director, the Manager of Graphic Design will play a key role in developing compelling, on-brand digital marketing materials that captivate audiences and enhance our brand presence across various platforms. The ideal candidate brings a deep passion for typography, color theory, layout design, composition, film, and photography, combining these elements to produce innovative designs and videos that effectively meet marketing and brand objectives. In addition, this role includes leading and mentoring coaching and developing a small team of graphic designers, inspiring creativity, fostering professional growth, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cohesive work that aligns with the brand’s vision.


Thuma’s Headquarters is based in the historic Presidio neighborhood of San Francisco. This role is based in San Francisco.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Design Director and the wider Thuma team by designing for web, print, packaging, ads, emails, and more. This role will provide a lot of creative support to our Growth Marketing team. Think: ads (static and motion), social artwork, and marketing emails.
  • Manage the creative process for assigned projects from concept to final delivery.
  • Continuously assess and refine design workflows/processes, developing frameworks that enhance collaboration and efficiency for both the design team and stakeholders involved in the creative process.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to brand guidelines and meet stakeholder expectations, while proactively identifying opportunities to refine and expand the brand's visual identity.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to develop world-class creative that consistently sets new standards and drives innovation.
  • Cultivate a positive, collaborative team culture that emphasizes a design-first mindset—prioritizing the development of exceptional creative work while deeply understanding design culture, history, and emerging trends.
  • Possess a collaborative mindset, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the adaptability to effectively manage multiple projects while seamlessly coordinating with external partners and cross-functional teams.
  • Present design concepts and strategies to internal teams, articulating the creative vision and how they align with business goals while collaborating to refine and optimize based on feedback.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members by sharing industry best practices, encouraging creative exploration, and fostering an environment that supports their professional growth.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
  • You lead and inspire high-performing teams to do their best work.
  • 4+ years of professional design experience, with 3 - 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.), Figma, and other relevant design tools.
  • Strong understanding of typography, print design, print production, layout, color theory, and branding principles.
  • Familiarity with UX/UI design principles and tools is a plus.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects and leadership capabilities.


$120,000 - $140,000 a year
Thuma provides an estimate of the compensation for roles that may be hired as required by state regulations. Compensation may vary based on (a) location, as Thuma factors in specific location when benchmarking compensation for most roles; (b) individual candidate skills and qualifications; and (c) individual candidate experience.

Additionally, Thuma leverages current market data to determine compensation, so posted compensation figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
