UX/UI Manager

The Thuma team is looking to hire a UX/UI Manager. Reporting to the Director of eCom, this role will be responsible for driving and implementing strategies to enhance user experiences to elevate our online brand experience and increase core web KPIs. You will work with a team of talented Product Managers, designers & engineers, collaborate cross-functionally, and leverage data-driven insights to improve the overall performance of our website. You’ll lead the UX/UI team and help existing talent to reach its next level.


Thuma’s Headquarters is based in the historic Presidio neighborhood of San Francisco. This role can be based in San Francisco or remote.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Manage, mentor the UX/UI team, fostering their growth and development.
  • Set clear goals, provide constructive feedback, and ensure high-quality design deliverables.
  • Advocate for user-centered & brand forward design practices across the organization.

  • Collaboration with Brand & Creative
  • Collaborate closely with the brand & creative team to position Thuma as a design company.
  • Ensure brand book guidelines are followed and consistency is maintained.
  • Identify new brand story telling opportunities across the entire experience.

  • Hands-On Design & execution 
  • Collaborate with the design team to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for key projects, ensuring they align with user needs and business objectives.
  • Lead and participate in brainstorming sessions, design critiques, and user research efforts.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure seamless implementation of designs.
  • Oversee end-to-end UX process from ideation to design in close collaboration with Brand & Creative.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers & engineers to define user requirements, goals, and project scope.

  • User Research & Strategy
  • Conduct and oversee user research initiatives, including competitive research and analytics review.
  • Translate research insights into actionable design strategies and solutions.
  • Develop user personas, customer journey maps, and interaction models to inform design decisions.
  • Develop user journeys and information architecture to guide the design process and improve user engagement and conversion.

  • Process Improvement & Best Practices
  • Define and refine UX/UI design processes, tools, and standards to increase efficiency and consistency.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and emerging technologies to keep the team at the forefront of UI/UX design.
  • Advocate for accessibility and inclusivity in all design work.

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 6+ years of experience in UX design, with at least 2 years in a leadership or mentorship role.
  • Proven experience designing intuitive, engaging digital products, with a strong portfolio showcasing UX and interaction design expertise.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of user research methods, usability testing, and analytics.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of web and mobile design standards, including accessibility (WCAG) principles.


$140,000 - $160,000 a year
Thuma provides an estimate of the compensation for roles that may be hired as required by state regulations. Compensation may vary based on (a) location, as Thuma factors in specific location when benchmarking compensation for most roles; (b) individual candidate skills and qualifications; and (c) individual candidate experience.

Additionally, Thuma leverages current market data to determine compensation, so posted compensation figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
