Job Description


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Studies and reviews assigned projects and investigates questionable items concerning machines, tools, and equipment. Manufacturing competency sufficient to identify areas of manufacturability concern in review of tool designs and drawings
  • Make recommendations on design enhancements on legacy components for improved yield, cycle time and cost
  • Make design layouts involving stress analysis, metallurgical characteristics, and mechanics.
  • Generate product CAD Models with Siemens NX to meet specifications.
  • Recommends redesign, repair or rebuilding to overcome difficulties or meet requirements.
  • Prepares bills of material, specification sheets, sketches and any other technical work necessary to complete tool designs and assignments.
  • Collaborate with other designers, drafters, engineers and representatives of other departments on matters involving design, material, and construction of tools, machines and equipment.
  • Make mathematical computations and calculations. Ensure accuracy and functional correctness of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence concerning tool design, machine functions and miscellaneous assignments.
  • Generate and track performance to schedules of 3rd party suppliers when needed.
  • May assign, check and instruct work of other designers and drafters.
  • May generate digital dimensional reference points to assist in equipment programming or for computer modeling input.
  • May generate tool paths for template layout and/or machining.
  • Seek and acquire skills training in emerging relevant technologies as required for personal development
  • Achieve and strive for highest quality standards in work
  • Continuously meet and occasionally exceed (where necessary) production schedules and staff expectations and needs Flexibility to address high priority items on a truncated timeline
  • Achieve established work-area cleanliness standards and maintain a high-degree of organization in work area(s); follow and support 5S program efforts
  • Perform work in a safe manner and adhere to safety programs, processes, and procedures set forth for the specific process and for company safety programs in general

Qualifications


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency with Siemens NX, Solidworks, Creo, Inventor, etc. and ability to read CAD drawings or assemblies.
    • GDTP preferred
  • Knowledge of Mold Manufacturing
    • An understanding of mold manufacturing processes including CNC machining, wire EDM, and grinding.
  • Familiarity with Injection Molding
    • An understanding of injection molding processes and materials is necessary to design molds that will produce high-quality products.
  • Attention to detail.
    • Precision and accuracy are crucial to ensure the design meets the required specifications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well under stress, despite numerous interruptions in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work well with ever-changing priorities and/or situations.
  • Exhibit and maintain positive, solutions-oriented attitude toward work and co-workers.
  • Team-oriented attitude and focus with strong ability to collaborate with others.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the design of turbine/airfoil molds, dies, and fixtures is strongly preferred.
  • Fluent with the design software Siemens NX. (redundant)
  • Experience or familiar with scanning/reverse engineering software.
  • Design for additive manufacturing technologies a plus
  • Additive manufacturing process awareness a plus
