Benefits to you

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $22.51 - $34.93. [OR The annual salary for this position is $46,827 - $72,645.]
  • 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 3 personal business days, separate sick and vacation paid leaves (prorated for part-time employees), and other employee benefits such as optional insurances and flexible spending plans.
  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job!
  • In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD the first two steps of the salary range. You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.

Location Highlights

Multnomah County Circuit Court, Oregon’s Fourth Judicial District, is the largest in the State of Oregon. The court has over 320 staff, including 15 hearing referees and 38 judges working in four courtroom facilities in Multnomah County.

Position Highlights

The Multnomah County Circuit Court is hiring a Traffic Clerk (Court Operations Associate).

In this role…

Most of your day, you will assist customers, lawyers, partner agencies, and court staff—through email and over the phone—by answering questions about court processes and the status of cases as allowed by Oregon law and court rules. You will also accept and receipt payments for traffic fines.

Additionally, you will enter data into the case tracking system (Odyssey) and will compile data and process filings and other paperwork for violation cases. You will route documents to hearings referees for judicial review and enter judgments and orders, tracking anything that requires additional follow up.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent

AND

At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents

OR

Any combination of education and experienceequivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Requested Skills and Attributes

  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks that included using a computer to enter and retrieve information, meeting strict deadlines, and maintaining accuracy when interrupted or distracted by a noisy work setting.
  • Experience responding professionally to customers or clients who are facing challenging life circumstances, stressful situations, or trauma.
  • Ability to learn how to identify and safeguard confidential information and materials using established laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience handling monetary transactions, generating receipts, and crediting accounts.

Working Conditions

  • These are full-time positions, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. These positions are eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.
  • Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Remote work may be available for these positions. All remote work assignments begin, end, or change only with administrative authority approval.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds and with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma.
  • Long periods of sitting/standing at a computer.
  • Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Parking

Multnomah Circuit Court does not provide parking for courthouse or justice center staff. Flexible spending accounts are available to reimburse parking or transportation costs up to a certain amount each month, if staff elect to have these funds held from their monthly paycheck.

Criminal Background Check
You will be subject to a criminal background check if you are a finalist. Adverse results are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may result in disqualification if the circumstances are directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
