Job Description

As part of the FP&A team within Commercial Finance you will gain unique end-to-end visibility of Trainline’s group financial picture. You will support the team to deepen understanding of finance performance, helping to drive the next stage of Trainline’s growth across the UK & Continental Europe. Working closely with the Senior FP&A Manager, you’ll play key role in supporting the business through the annual budget and in-year forecasts, consolidating inputs and delivering insights that bring the numbers to life for stakeholders across finance.

We’re looking for creative big thinkers with small egos and a proactive, can-do attitude. You’ll be a part-qualified accountant and have a strong academic track record. You may have previous experience within a digital, e-commerce or technology environment or be looking for your first role into this industry – we care less about the background and more about your ability to work with pace and energy within a fast moving, growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Support the team in delivering the annual budget & and in-year forecasts, ensuring accurate group consolidation and insightful summaries to help tell the story
  • Reporting
    • Assist with reporting on delivery of performance against the plan, working with the team to understand key variances to inform forecast updates
    • Support the preparation and timely delivery of the monthly Board performance deck
    • Maintain reporting workbooks, proactively identifying process improvements and automation opportunities
  • Anaplan
    • Supported by training, become an Anaplan champion within Commercial Finance (like the rest of the FP&A team)
    • Support the team in building bespoke, automated reports to enhance forecasting capabilities.
  • Ad hoc project
    • Support in ad-hoc projects; showing a willingness to support the wider Commercial Finance team

Qualifications

  • A team player who will work for the success for Trainline. Willingness to get stuck in with a “roll your sleeves up” attitude
  • Part-qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent)
  • Strong degree or equivalent
  • Analytical, inquisitive mindset with strong commercial acumen
  • Highly organised, with an ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate complex analysis clearly and effectively to senior team
  • Good Excel skills; and knowledge of the Office suite
  • Experience in Anaplan, or a similar tool, is a bonus but not essential
  • Modelling/analytical techniques
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
