Job Description

At Trainline, the People Team is central to supporting the company’s ambition and growth plans.

We are looking for a People Operations advisor to join our UK People Operations team. Reporting into our UK People Operations Team Manager, you’ll work on all things HR and be responsible for supporting employees across the business and helping to make Trainline a great place to work. You’ll provide high quality support in relation to both core HR processes and ad-hoc projects and quickly become an integral part of the team and wider business.

If you’re successful in your application, you’ll be joining an enthused and high performing team, one which prides itself on providing stellar service at every stage of the employee life cycle, from on-boarding to off-boarding and everything in between.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the records held in our HRIS (HiBob) ensuring accuracy and integrity at all times.
  • Working with your colleagues in the People Ops team to monitor our People Mailbox providing Trainliners with a professional level of assistance and support around HR process and policy, within our internal SLA time frames.
  • Providing Trainliners with accurate and consistent support with regards to our policies, practices, and processes.
  • Supporting the running and processing of Trainlines monthly UK payroll.
  • Supporting People BPs to manage our Absence, Performance Management, Salary Review, Learning & Development, and Employee Engagement processes.
  • Supporting Trainline’s onboarding and induction process including liaising with our Pre-Boarders and Recruiters to ensure that all Background and Right to Work checks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Working closely with our Accounts Payable team to handle and process invoices and POs.
  • Developing and working with weekly/monthly reports to ensure that our people data is consistent and accurate.
  • Improving, reviewing, and implementing People policies and procedures.
  • Supporting in People team projects to improve the employee experience and People team processes.

Based on the sensitive nature of the role, it’s important that you bring the appropriate degree of discretion and empathy in the way you operate. To this end, you’ll be responsible for identifying escalation points and making sure that any issues are managed appropriately and are dealt with efficiently. Furthermore, being heavily involved in all our HR processes means that you’ll be ideally placed to contribute towards the development of new solutions that further enhance the quality, competence and effectiveness of our current offering.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations.
  • Experience in processing payroll, a working knowledge of payroll processes and calculations, with a basic understanding in UK tax legislation.
  • Strong knowledge of the hiring process and Right to Work/VISA legislation.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

We're looking for a team player with a ‘roll your sleeves up’ attitude. A self-starter with a helpful, people-orientated demeanour and a high degree of integrity and confidentiality, someone itching expand upon their HR and payroll experience. Super-strong organisation and interpersonal skills are essential, and you’ll also bring the ability to work at pace and with agility.

An HR qualification isn’t necessary - as long as you can demonstrate your interest in HR and show a comprehensive understanding of HR processes and policies, we’ll provide you with the necessary professional development to make you an HR superhero.

This is fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about HR, keen to work in a fast-moving, forward-thinking technology business, and looking to develop their career.

This is a role based in the UK but as we also support offices in France, Spain and Italy so experience of working with employees in these countries would be helpful but is not essential.
