Under the general direction of a supervisor, the Senior Professional Engineer independently applies professional knowledge and experience to complete projects of routine to average complexity.  The individual provides technical assistance under the direction and review of the project leader on more complex projects.  They may be assigned the responsibility of on-site management of complex field projects or at locations distant from the office. 


Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs technical work with competence on all but the more difficult assignments and displays maturity in making decisions relative to the direction of projects
  • Has the ability to direct, train, supervise, and motivate others with who he/she works with
  • Reviews or develops field and laboratory activities for consistency with project goals and objectives
  • Directs or trains other personnel on more complex field activities
  • Provides field oversight on projects of extreme complexity or at a significant distance from the office
  • Prepares reports for routine to average projects
  • Prepares proposals for routine to average projects and assists more senior staff with the development of scope or cost on more complex projects
  • Practices loss prevention techniques
  • Alerts project leader or supervisor to technical, managerial, or administrative problems arising during the course of a contract
  • Discusses technical matters with clients as a fully-qualified professional
  • Projects a positive image of the Firm in dealings with outside groups and clients
  • Completes project assignments on time and within budget
  • Continues to acquire technical and organizational skills from more experienced professionals
  • Maintains and updates technical knowledge through literature review and attendance at professional meetings and conferences
  • Progressive increase in the level of responsibility and technical assignments
  • Increasing ability to organize and supervise the work of staff at lower professional levels
  • Additional interface with clients on business development and technical issues and increased participation in the preparation of proposals
  • Conducts all work in a manner that demonstrates that safety is a core value
  • Follows Geotechnology’s safety plans, programs, policies, and procedures
  • Conducts periodic job site safety observations
  • Participates in group safety meetings and job site tailgate safety meetings
  • Completes assigned safety training


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science.  M.S. in specialty field desired.
  • Registered Professional Engineer’s license, equivalent in the specialty field, or demonstrated expertise in specialty or project management field
  • Eight or more years of progressively responsible experience in a specialty field; up to two years of experience may be substituted for the required experience with an advanced degree in a closely related field
  • Ability to perform routine assignments from both a technical and managerial perspective with minor supervision
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including good technical writing capabilities
  • Accuracy and detail in performing technical assignments
  • Ability to complete projects within time and budget considerations
