Able to work independently and/or with minimum supervision.Responsibilities WHEN APPLYING ONLINE PLEASE UPLOAD RESUME/CV, COVER LETTER AND 3 PROFESSIONAL REFERRENCES AS ONE PDF DOCUMENT Position Summary: As part of the River Campus Libraries (RCL) Patron Services Team, the STEM Course Reserves Specialist will serve as a key member of the RCL Course Reserves team. They will manage the Course Reserves collection for the Carlson Science & Engineering Library and will assist with fulfillment of Course Reserves requests at other River Campus Libraries. They will work with colleagues in the Carlson Science & Engineering Library and the Physics, Optics, and Astronomy Library to maintain daily operations, including opening the Carlson Library, and participate in strategic projects. In addition, they will provide support for service point operations, including staffing RCL service desks, opening and closing library buildings and spaces, maintaining use statistics, adjusting item records in the Library Management System (Alma) and assisting with tasks necessary to support the ongoing provision of high-quality, consistent service for all library users. Responsibilities: - Supports multiple RCL Q&i service points to assist patrons with accessing library spaces, resources, and services, circulate items, collect fines and fees, troubleshoot technology issues, monitor library spaces, engage in general problem solving, and provide information about RCL and University of Rochester services, resources, and events. Opening/closing libraries as scheduled. Occasional evenings or weekends as scheduled. - Maintains the Carlson Library Physical Course Reserves collection and, when necessary, provides back-up assistance at other RCL locations. This includes fulfilling requests by retrieving items from library collections, entering them into the Library's Course Reserves system, preparing items for reserves circulation, shelving items in the Reserves Cage, communicating with faculty regarding the status of their requests, and removing items from Reserves to return to their original collection, maintains the permanent Course Reserves collection, orders new materials, and sees to the upkeep of the Reserves shelves. - Provides general in-person support to the RCL Patron Services department, primarily in the Science and Engineering libraries. Duties may include scanning documents, retrieving materials from collections, answering phones, coordinating displays, transferring items in and out of temporary locations, responding to building and other emergency situations and providing backup to staff at the RCL service desks. Responsible for opening the Carlson Library on a regularly scheduled basis. - Fulfills electronic Course Reserves requests by monitoring and maintaining records of incoming requests, verifying the library's access to requested resources, communicating with faculty to provide support in accessing reserves materials, and collaborating with subject librarians to provide faculty support. May facilitate captioning and transcription of course materials in an audio or video format for disability accommodations. - Provides ongoing support to coordinated RCL Course Reserves services by maintaining a collaborative relationship with Course Reserves staff from other RCL libraries, updating policy and procedure documents for these services, regularly reviewing and revising information of the Course Reserves Webpage, and gathering service statistics. - Maintains currency with professional development activities and job-related training. Participates in Patron Services departmental projects and serves on RCL interdepartmental project teams & committees. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: - Associate's Degree required. - Bachelor's Degree preferred. - 2+ years customer service experience required. - 1+ years working in a library environment preferred. - Ability to follow established procedures and perform work requiring considerable attention to detail required. - Outstanding verbal and written communication and customer service skills required. - Ability to learn new skills independently required. - Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite required. - Commitment to diversity required. - History of navigating change in a team environment preferred. - Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team preferred.
