This position will... collaborate with others to carry out in-person and virtual events in alignment with strategic goals.
The events manager will also provide general customer service and operations support as requested.

U-M is in high demand having received 93,000 first-year and transfer applications for those interested in joining in the fall of 2023 and traditionally enroll 8,800 new students for fall, winter and spring terms.
Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) division provides campus-wide leadership in executing the strategic recruitment, undergraduate admission, enrollment, new student programs, records management and student financial support functions for the university.
Responsibilities Execute local, out-of-state and national recruitment activities for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (OUA).
Coordinate in-person and virtual details including location/site selection, catering/food, audio/visual and other technical support, transportation, onsite speakers/entertainment, itinerary management, event set-up and clean-up.
Develop and coordinate staff engagement events for OUA such as the annual retreat and holiday party.
Lead committees and facilitate events that assist in cultivating a vibrant culture.
Collaborate with the Assistant Vice Provost and Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions, their senior leadership team, and U-M Purchasing on contracts and costs.
Carry out events on-time and on-budget.
Evaluate event success, assess results and make recommendations to OUA leadership.
Document processes and event details to review and reflect future needs.
Partner with the OEM Marketing Communications team to publicize events via print, electronic outlets and social media.
Maintain positive relationships with speakers, visitors and vendors.
Serves as a liaison between various communities and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Assist in the planning and execution of the OEM All-Staff Conference, OEM all-staff meetings and special projects as needed.
Additional duties:
Provide customer service and backup support to the OUA administrative assistant.
Assist with processing first-year and transfer applications, including the recalculation of the applicant's GPA.
May perform general data entry, document management and clerical functions in accordance with OUA processes and procedures.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree, plus two years of varied event planning experience.
Exceptional event planning experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
Ability to execute logistics for all OUA events which includes:
alumni events, out of state receptions, on and off campus recruitment events, as well as OUA office events Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with the public, visitors, faculty, and external units.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new tools.
Ability to track event details and expenses, develop budget proposals.
Proven vendor negotiation skills.
Dedication to customer service, quality, and a collaborative approach to work.
Ability to occasionally travel to out of state events, and work evenings and weekends.
Desired Qualifications Additional years of related experience.
Experience with University of Michigan policies and procedures.
