BlackRock’s US Private Capital (“USPC”) is a private investment business unit of BlackRock’s Global Credit Platform. We are a dedicated team focused on providing innovative capital solutions to US middle market companies through directly originated investments that generate attractive risk-adjusted returns.

We are seeking an Associate-level investment professional to join a small team that manages ~$30bn of assets across a portfolio of over 100+ privately placed debt investments. This person will be responsible for identifying and underwriting new investments, monitoring existing positions, as well as broader fund performance reports. This position will report into US Private Capital leadership and partner with other professionals within the organization. Candidates should have a background in credit investing with the research and modeling skills to underwrite and monitor existing investments. Critical to the individual’s success will be their investment judgment, ability to work constructively with investment partners, willingness to take initiative, resourcefulness and intellectual curiosity.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Research industries, companies and create detailed financial models to highlight relevant metrics to be used in the investment decision making process

  • Produce quality analysis of company and diligence information to support investment conclusions

  • Develop accurate, flexible financial models / scenario analysis

  • Preparation of concise, accurate and complete investment memoranda

  • Actively monitor portfolio existing portfolio names

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years relevant experience

  • Investment Banking and Private Credit experience a plus

  • Superior analytical, thinking, and communication (oral and written) skills

  • Candidates must be comfortable participating in diligence meetings with senior management; portfolio companies, sponsors and other investment professionals

  • Motivated, self-starter that seeks problem solving situations

  • Must be able to work in team-oriented environment and show ability to quickly climb learning curve


For California and New York City only the salary range for this position is $142,500 – $170,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 3 days in the office each week, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week; some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities. Beginning in September, all employees will shift to at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. We remain focused on increasing the impactful moments that arise when we work together in person – aligned with our commitment to performance and innovation.
