Who are we looking for?
The Vice President, Information Security is responsible for development, implementation, and management of information security for the corporation. In partnership with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), key responsibilities will be to establish the information security strategy and development of the roadmaps to help mitigate information risk. This role is accountable for oversight and execution of the information security teams and functions.
As an independent information risk management function, Information Security provides guidance and technologies to help protect the organization’s information assets. This role partners closely with technology and business leaders and organizations to enable secure business outcomes. The Vice President, Information Security will identify and implement an industry standard risk management framework to help measure and drive the organization’s cyber security practices. In partnership with the CISO, this role delivers regular program communications to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
Your Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning

In partnership with the CISO, establishes the information security strategy, vision, and roadmap of information security efforts.

Establishes operational plans and risk reduction roadmaps that deliver on the strategy.
Operational Management

Partners to ensure alignment with key business, corporate and operational stakeholders throughout the company to understand their objectives and long-range strategies.

Negotiates secure organizational outcomes to enable secure business outcomes.

Provide guidance and advocacy regarding applicable information security frameworks and best practices across the enterprise.

Delivers regular reporting to executive management on system-wide risk and mitigation efforts.
Leadership

Manages and develops direct reports including managers and technical team leads to ensure their ability to handle the day-to-day operations of the information security team as well as project deliverables.

Leads and holds staff accountable for achievement of department goals as well as engineering and operational excellence.

Sets reasonable stretch performance goals, provides constructive, balanced, regular performance feedback, and collaborates with associates to help build and support their individual career development plans.

Drives associate engagement including recognizing and rewarding performance excellence.

Manages the hiring process, conducts interviews, and ensures the successful onboarding of new associates.
Budget Accountability

Create and administer department operating and capital budgets as directed and within company policy.

Oversees the information security contracts with third parties, budget preparation, project planning, and internal/external reporting.
Your Team
The Vice President, Information Security a leadership position within the Information Technology Risk Management organization, a separate and independent team from Choice’s Technology department, and reports directly to the Chief Information Security Officer. This role oversees the identity and access management, engineering, operations, and application security teams consisting of leaders, analysts, and engineers. Within the Information Technology Risk Management organization, this role is a peer to the Chief Privacy Officer / Data Protection Officer and the IT Service Management leader.
Your Experience & Skills

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field from a four-year college or university or equivalent education and/or work experience.

Minimum of 14 years of progressive experience in Information Security including experience in software development, information systems, or equivalent technical fields. This should include a minimum of 7 years of experience leading functional leaders, technology teams and high-level individual contributors.

Advanced Information Security certification (CISSP and/or CISM) is highly preferred.

Must be well versed with major information security management frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, etc.)

Exceptional written communication, oral communication, and presentation skills.

Exceptional ability to anticipate and intervene when conflicts arise and work through tough agreements to settle disputes equitably.

Ability to travel (<10% of the time) within the United States to the company's regional offices and cyber security conferences.
Your Work Location
As our Vice President, Information Security, you will either be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art technology hub in Scottsdale, Arizona or our worldwide corporate headquarters in Rockville, Maryland.
