POSITION SUMMARY:
The Chamber seeks a senior-most research leader with a marketing mindset to oversee member intelligence; the development of marketing proposals, briefings, and communications; and the creation of new analysis and member products. The ideal candidate will leverage policy, communications, and editorial expertise to understand member policy priorities and respond with unique and saleable opportunities and insights, working in deepest partnership with revenue team leaders. As chief of the Chamber’s membership research function, the VP will lead a large team of 12+ researchers, and will demonstrate the strongest coaching and leadership gifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the team to share policy and industry insights, inform revenue opportunities, and deliver results, in support of the Chamber’s engagements with C-Suite corporate decision-makers from across industries and sectors.
  • Oversee the development of member intelligence briefings, arming account leaders with financial, policy, and relationship background to strategically inform pitch meetings and revenue discussions.
  • Partner closely with sales team to identify new prospective members and to develop impactful new business proposals and pitches.
  • Serve as a senior-most change agent in support of organizational transformation initiatives, developing strategy, architecting metrics, and implementing new processes.
  • Take a proactive, opportunistic view to upcoming legislation with an eye to potential impact to both current and prospective members; work creatively and collaboratively with policy expert colleagues to constantly identify new areas of interest for members throughout the Chamber’s advocacy offerings.
  • Leverage Salesforce to enhance reporting, tracking, and briefing efficacy and accuracy.
  • Serve as a member of the Chief Relationship Officer’s (CRO) management team.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years’ experience in a research, think tank, agency, journalism/editing, or policy environment, required; experience working with marketing, sales, or communications efforts, preferred.
  • An editor’s eye, the strongest written communications skills, a passion for details, and an obsession with accuracy.
  • A seasoned and impassioned coach, required; experience managing teams in a transitionary or growth phase, a plus.
  • Strongest verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to communicate with senior executives with confidence and sophistication.
  • Deep intellectual curiosity and a passion for policy, with an ability to translate complex topics into digestible sales opportunities and to connect the dots between the headlines and the corresponding impact to a given industry.
  • Ability to effectively articulate the Chamber value proposition to our members and a deep appreciation for the contribution that the Chamber makes to the business community at large.
  • A growth and learning mindset characterized by openness to challenging assumptions at organizational, team, and personal levels.
  • Strong techniques around guiding sales messaging with diplomacy, tact, and sensitivity for a range of audiences.
  • Data-driven approach to utilizing a CRM, such as Salesforce, required; additional deep experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and InDesign, preferred.
