Responsible to serve as the company's principal state government affairs advocate and will represent the company position on legislation to elected representatives, officials, and staff in regulatory agencies and the executive branch for an assigned geographic area or region.Develop and maintain strong external relationships with state and local policymakers, industry groups, and patient and professional organizations within a specified geographic area or region. All engagement shall be conducted in compliance with our code of conduct and all applicable state and local lobbying laws and regulations.Implement strategies and tactics to shape and influence state policies through a combination of direct lobbying and legislative coalition-building.Participate in political fundraising events and the company's PAC activity.Lead project initiatives and facilitate collaboration with a team of legislative and alliance development consultants and lobbyists to provide direction on approaches and deliver results.Develop relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including industry groups, companies, think tanks, business trade associations, and patient/provider groups to advance the company's agenda.Represent the company at key state/national stakeholder meetings and engage with key external partners to identify opportunities for collaboration to advance common policy priorities.Work closely with various internal business units to provide strategic counsel, including providing regular updates, conducting briefings, presenting at internal meetings, and staffing senior leadership during state engagements.Collaborate with internal cross functional advocacy team to execute on the strategic and tactical plan and identify opportunities for engagement with external partners in a constantly changing environment.Job SpecificationsTypically has the following skills or abilities:Masters or Juris Doctorate degree preferredEight years of experience working within state government, government affairs/advocacy, health policy, or relevant industry experienceOptical industry and managed vision care experience preferredExperience engaging with stakeholders and navigating political relationships to drive policy agendasAbility to move quickly and navigate multiple projects over short and long-time horizonsIntuitive understanding of the intersection between policy and business strategy/outcomesBusiness acumen including a keen understanding of legislative and regulatory process and impacts to business unitsExcellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to articulate complex policy issues to diverse audiencesExcellent judgement regarding strategic policy priorities, taking into consideration the political and communications landscapeAbility to work independently as well as with a team and able to produce timely, high-quality work with limited supervisionAbility to travel up to 40% requiredPreferred SkillsRole expected to cover South and Southeastern US#LI-VISIONCARECompensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
