What you'll do...

Position: Lead Designer, Associate Digital Experience

Job Location: 702 SW 8th Street, Bentonville, AR 72716

Duties: Attend project intake meetings with business partners to understand the business requirement and new monthly features coming in the Me@Campus app platform. Collaborate with UX researchers to create a research strategy aligned with both business and user needs. The research plan encompasses the research objectives, research hypotheses, recommended UX research methodology (quantitative & qualitative), and data collection methods. Conduct usability tests (heuristic evaluation, A/B testing, eye tracking, card sorting, etc.) using UserZoom and Figma prototypes; validate assumptions; iterate design based on the testing findings. Verify testing result accuracy, identify and eliminate gaps and unreliable data, and resolve inconsistencies in research project data; analyze and interpret data from various sources and integrate discoveries into the design and iterate. Analyze the testing outcomes with the team using Figjam; utilize affinity maps, empathy maps, user journey maps, service blueprints and formulate archetypes of user persona. Design consistent and scalable solutions by creating interaction patterns and templates, accommodating various use cases, complex data exchanges, and error conditions. Design, manage and maintain the Me@Campus design subsystem; implement a sustainable contribution model for the design system; make sure the subsystem adheres to the Walmart design guidelines. Identify discrepancies within various domain experiences and formulate comprehensive, lasting system-wide or platform-level solutions. Generate design in various stages of product development and incorporate feedback from business stakeholders. Develop a UX handoff deliverable comprising design specifications (screen flows, spacing, HTML/CSS, micro-interactions, etc.) that is readily comprehended by engineering partners; ensure that designs adhere to WCAG standards and compatibility with assistive technology. Build hi-fidelity animations using After Effects to showcase micro-interactions to engineers for accurate implementation. Streamline and enhance the product development process for improved quality assurance.

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in UI/UX Design, Computer Science or related field plus 3 years of experience in UI/UX or related experience.

Skills required: Must have experience with: Conducting heuristic evaluation and competitive analysis to identify problem statement and formulate a research strategy; Transforming research findings and metrics into actionable suggestions that shape design and business strategies; Uncovering user pain points through the utilization of affinity maps, empathy maps, user journey maps, service blueprints, and user personas, then communicating these insights to stakeholders; Formulating sitemaps and information architecture via a comprehensive audit across the entirety of the application; Creating UI patterns, sketches, decision flowchart, user flow and wireframes; Creating a design system for both mobile and web with design patterns that is consistent and scalable; Selecting appropriate UX research methods aligned with the usability test objectives and formulating the test plan; Producing a usability/analytics report by synthesizing insights obtained from qualitative and quantitative usability testing sessions; Producing engineering hand-off documentation that includes precise HTML and CSS specifications; Ensuring visual quality assurance in alignment with a design specification and WCAG guidelines; Developing test scenarios and conducting acceptance tests on user stories by creating clickable prototypes and by using User Zoom; Simplifying work processes to reduce misalignment between research, business, product, and engineering partners.
