Professional Time Type: Full time Position Term: 12 Month Position Details: The Opportunity: As the Social Media Strategist, you will play a key role in driving digital engagement across all of Washington State University’s six campuses. In a system-level position, you will plan and execute social media campaigns for key audiences, including prospective and current students, news organizations, alumni, influencers, donors, and others in the WSU community. Components of these campaigns may include paid media planning, campaign management and content creation. You will also be responsible for reporting and analysis of performance measures of WSU’s central social media channels. You will supervise the social media manager and manage and oversee the social media annual budget allocation. You will show an authentic commitment to storytelling and supporting a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment. You will report to the brand marketing director on the system’s central University Marketing and Communications team. Required Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in public relations, mass communications or a relevant field AND three (3) years of professional experience in print or broadcast news media, public relations or marketing including proven experience with writing and editing skills; writing feature articles, brochures, annual reports and speeches; executing strategic communication plans and complex communication projects. Demonstrated experience using social media analytics to make decisions around strategy and content Experience managing a social media analytics tool; experience with Sprout Social. Ability to distill complex policy ideas into impactful stories, graphics, photos, or video Strong writing skills, with a focus on creative storytelling Ability to work independently and in team environments, where one must respect and cultivate diverse and alternative perspectives. Preferred Qualifications: Proven ability to work well on multiple projects or tasks under deadline Some supervisory or project management experience that demonstrates an ability to effectively lead a team Management responsibility of an enterprise-wide social media program a plus. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
