Job SummaryThe Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) is seeking applicants for the position of Compliance Officer for Conflict of Interest and Commitment (COI and COC) and the Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research Training Program (RECR).The Compliance Officer promotes a culture of research compliance and oversees adherence to federal regulations and Institution and sponsoring agency policies and procedures related to COI, including institutional and individual COI, and COC and RECR training.They will be responsible for developing processes and solutions and / or working with internal and external constituents to achieve these goals.This is a regular full-time exempt position and is eligible for benefits; with opportunities for flexible work arrangements .Essential Functions• Leads the review and revision of WHOI’s policies and procedures related to COI, COC and RECR to ensure compliance.• Monitors developments and changes in rules and regulations that impact research the Officer’s compliance areas and revises as needed policies and procedures to ensure continuous compliance.• Leads the development and implementation of (1) WHOI’s annual and project-specific COI and COC disclosure processes, (2) the review and evaluation of disclosures, and (3) the development implementation and oversight of COI and COC management plans, and (4) training for the community regarding COI and COC.• Leads the development, implementation and oversight of WHOI’s RECR training program.• Staffs the Advisory Committee on Ethics, Conflicts and Security (ACECS) and others as designated or requested.• Manages reporting requirements of sponsor agencies or other authorities with respect to COI, COC, and RECR.Non-Essential Functions :Performs other duties as assigned by the DDVPSE in order to serve WHOI’s mission.Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree required.Master’s degree in a related field or Juris Doctor degree from an accredited university desired.Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in a regulatory, legal, and / or compliance-related capacity in healthcare, research, business, and / or university environment required.Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply organizational policies, procedures, and systems desired.Demonstrated excellence in all forms fo communication and customer service; ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise work of colleagues as a team member and a leader desired.Last updated : 2024-09-28
