BASIC FUNCTION:
Write and edit news and feature stories and press releases as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the development of print and digital media, including but not limited to annual reports, advertisements, electronic newsletters, sell sheets, rack cards, videos, traveling displays, web features, social media posts, and other promotional materials.
Maintain and enhance the College of Engineering (COE) website, measure audience capture, hone messaging, and increase the image and prestige of the College.
Develop and maintain campaigns, print and digital, to increase recruitment, ratings, and national perceptions of the College across all available platforms.
Assist faculty and staff in preparation of website content. Assist faculty in the use of online content management systems.
Cultivate and reach out to media and other influencers in the promotion of the College.
Maintain faculty and researcher database information for faculty.
Attend COE events on a regular basis, serving as photographer, videographer, and writer.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties as required.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, printers, database management systems and related software. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere. Social media. Web tools.
Required Qualifications
REQUIRED:
1. Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, journalism, communications, or related field.
2. Minimum of three years of professional writing experience.
3. Demonstrated editorial and design experience.
4. Demonstrated experience producing print and online materials.
5. Demonstrated experience producing video.
6. Demonstrated experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere.
7. Demonstrated experience supporting web sites.
8. Demonstrated experience managing social media channels.
9. Demonstrated experience using audience metrics to hone messaging.
10. Demonstrated experience supporting end users with online content creation.
11. Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
12. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
13. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED:
1. Demonstrated experience using marketing copy to further business objectives in digital and print.
2. Demonstrated experience in the WordPress publishing platform.
3. Demonstrated experience marketing in higher education.
4. Demonstrated experience using LinkedIn in marketing plans.
